The story is told through the voice of Joseph Smith, not to be confused with the Mormon prophet of the same name. It is the sexually coming of age story of this young man as he grows from adolescence into a young adult. Joseph grows up in Manhattan in the 1990's and has an older brother Buddy who is a talented young musician. Joseph and Buddy are real close and have a strong bond between them. Buddy has a girlfriend named Maybe who is the granddaughter of famous sexologists. While Buddy is busy with his music career he gives Joseph the gift of having a sensual relationship with Maybe. Joseph and Maybe have amazing fun together. The bond they form is intensely erotic, but he can only see her on occasion. They have wild and exotic dates all over New York and even in Europe when Maybe and Buddy are living there. Joseph moves upstate and goes to high school and then college but he is not interested in any other girls. He continues to have a fantastic time with Maybe when they are able to get together. Joseph does date a lot of girls in Maybe's absence and learns to become quite talented in pleasuring them. No one else comes close to being as much fun as Maybe until he meets the girl of his dreams in graduate school. Joseph is totally in love with his new girlfriend Keri but still has strong feelings for Maybe. Once Joseph is involved with another woman, Maybe decides she wants him too. She is willing to share Joseph with Keri but will Keri feel the same way about Maybe? How will Joseph handle being in love with two women at the same time? How will the two women get along with each other? Will the grandparents of Maybe who are former teachers in a sexual school have the answers that he is looking for? What lessons in pleasure and living will the three of them get from the widow of the guru of the sex school?

From New York Times bestselling author Mia Sheridan comes an emotional, slow burn romance about a woman desperate to hide and the man who sees through her walls, perfect for fans of Colleen Hoover and Lucy Score. I wanted to lose myself in the small town of Pelion, Maine. To forget everything I had left behind. The sound of rain. The blood. The coldness of a gun against my skin. For six months, each breath has been a reminder that I survived--and my dad didn't. I'm almost safe again. But the moment I meet Archer Hale, my entire world tilts on its axis . . . and never rights itself again. Until I trespass into his strange, silent, and isolated world, Archer communicates with no one. Yet in his whiskey-colored eyes, something intangible happens between us. There's so much more to him than just his beauty, his presence, or the ways his hands communicate with me. On me. But this town is mired in secrets and betrayals, and Archer is the explosive center of it all. So much passion. And so much hurt. But it's only in Archer's silence that we might just find what we need to heal . . . and live. Includes an exclusive extended epilogue from Archer's POV! INSTANT ORGASM teaches the reader to expand their orgasmic potential by totally focusing on their pleasure areas in order to become instantly orgasmic. The first part of the book describes this instantly orgasmic possibility and gives a person the knowledge and background to fully understand this concept. In order to experience anything it has to become part of our awareness and the authors explain why this "natural ability" has not been allowed to flourish and how to let it bloom. They then present the specific techniques on how to practice becoming instantly orgasmic in a "Ground Hog" approach; that is to repeatedly start over and over again each time with some added knowledge from a previous description until we feel that a person can completely integrate the idea into actual sensation and feelings. Our other books on Extended Massive Orgasm were written in a style that took the reader on a complete orgasmic experience from the starting to going up to the arousal through peaking and then coming down. This book is about starting and stopping, starting and stopping in order to bring the reader to the point of here and now so that they may become a fully sensual being. This book also presents many different ways and reasons that people resist pleasure and how to handle those resistances. The book's final technical chapter is the art of pleasurable peaking and we describe in more detail than ever the actual timing and purposes of this vitally important method with the added emphasis that each peak starts with a first stroke mentality. The book includes many exercises and illustrations and is written in a clear concise manner.

National Book Award Finalist: “This man’s ideas may be the most influential, not to say controversial, of the second half of the twentieth century.”—Columbus Dispatch At the heart of this classic, seminal book is Julian Jaynes's still-controversial thesis that human consciousness did not begin far back in animal evolution but instead is a learned process that came about only three thousand years ago and is still developing. The implications of this revolutionary scientific paradigm extend into virtually every aspect of our psychology, our history and culture, our religion—and indeed our future. “Don’t be put off by the academic title of Julian Jaynes’s The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind. Its prose is always lucid and often lyrical…he unfolds his case with the utmost intellectual rigor.”—The New York Times “When Julian Jaynes . . . speculates that until late in the twentieth millennium BC men had no consciousness but were automatically obeying the voices of the gods, we are astounded but compelled to follow this remarkable thesis.”—John Updike, The New Yorker “He is as startling as Freud was in The Interpretation of Dreams, and Jaynes is equally as adept at forcing a new view of known human behavior.”—American Journal of Psychiatry

A spellbinding novel about transience and mortality, by one of the most original voices in American literature The Silk Road begins on a mat in yoga class, deep within a labyrinth on a settlement somewhere in the icy north, under the canny guidance of Jee Moon. When someone fails to arise from corpse pose, the Astronomer, the Archivist, the Botanist, the Keeper, the Topologist, the Geographer, the Iceman, and the Cook remember the paths that brought them there—paths on which they still seem to be traveling. The Silk Road also begins in rivalrous skirmishing for favor, in the protected Eden of childhood, and it ends in the harrowing democracy of mortality, in sickness and loss and death. Kathryn Davis’s sleight of hand brings the past, present, and future forward into brilliant coexistence; in an endlessly shifting landscape, her characters make their way through ruptures, grief, and apocalypse, from existence to nonexistence, from embodiment to pure spirit. Since the beginning of her extraordinary career, Davis has been fascinated by journeys. Her books have been shaped around road trips, walking tours, hegiras, exiles: and now, in this triumphant novel, a pilgrimage. The Silk Road is her most explicitly allegorical novel and also her most profound vehicle; supple and mesmerizing, the journey here is not undertaken by a single protagonist but by a community of separate souls—a family, a yoga class, a generation. Its revelations are ravishing and desolating.
