After more than 20 years of research, the author was finally able to pull together more than 70,000 descendants of William Morss (b. in the 1600s) and his wife Elizabeth. By tracking the descendants of Anthony Morse of Essex County, MA she can identify more than 70,000 descendants. Many of these lines had been lost to history, including a more recent one of Joseph Willis Morse, whose son founded the precursor to the magazine "Vanity Fair" in Atlantic City. His son had '9' sons, each with large families of their own, none of whom were listed in the traditional histories. And so the search began.. Samuel Morse (1587-1654) immigrated to Watertown, Massachusetts in 1635. Anthony Morse (1618-1686) and his brother, William Morse (1614-1683), immigrated to Newbury, Massachusetts. Joseph Morse (d.1646) immigrated to Ipswich, Massachusetts. John Moss (1603 or 4-1707) immigrated to New Haven, Connecticut. All immigrated from England. Descendants listed lived chiefly in New England. Includes some ancestors in England.

This book presents the Morse family's genealogy through 13 generations, from 1635 to the early 1900s. It includes an extension of the line of Agnes Colby into the 21st Century, including linage, family stories, life information, and letters about the family. The table of contents contains the parental line through the book. We contacted family members for up-to-date information, but not all contributed. The material in this book will assist further research into the family heritage. The original printing of this book was by The Eagle Printing and Binding Co. Pittsfield, Mass 1907, by Harriet Morse Weeks. This book was transcribed, and submitted articles were edited by James Olah, March 2020, during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic, when the call was made for our nation not to leave their homes for several weeks.
