The Tale Of Two Doggies

Two dogs who happen to live in the very same town, on the very same street share very different lives with their families. The unlucky dog spends most of his time alone in the backyard "rarely hearing a friendly voice." The simple story makes it easy for children to understand what dogs need to be healthy and happy.

This is a story about the relationship between two dogs that are like brothers. Their real names are Otis (Mr. Snuggles) and Ralphie (Mr. Tails.) The story came to mind from watching the two interact with each other as they each have very distinct personalities much like siblings do. At the same time, I wanted to write a childrens story that is rich in vocabulary and enriching to a childs imagination in addition to being entertaining. While it is a story about two dogs, it is also a social story that is written to give parents a frame of reference to help teach their child about sibling relationships and social skills in a playful and fun way.

Homeless Pip, a Border terrier, thought miracles do happen when Annie and Bill collected him from the dog rescue home hed been in after his beloved human friends that hed lived with all his life were killed. Life was good for Pip until he was abducted from the garden of his new friends house. Taken to a puppy breeding kennel hundreds of kilometers away from home, he met Daisy, an older Border terrier who had been badly mistreated by being forced to breed many litters of puppies. The two of them eventually escaped miraculously even though the journey was fraught with danger, making their way back to Pips home and happiness again.

The clever rhyming text tells of the narrator's two dogs who could not be more different—one is big, one is small, one barks quietly, while one has a loud and enthusiastic bark—but he loves them both the same. The bold graphic art style adds humor by revealing that the narrator's view of the dogs isn't exactly the way others might see them.
