Within a scenario of globalised markets, where the capacity to efficiently cooperate with other firms starts to become essential in order to remain in the market in an economically, socially and environmentally cost-effective manner, it can be seen how the most innovative enterprises are beginning to redesign their business model to become interoperable. This goal of interoperability is essential, not only from the perspective of the individual enterprise but also in the new business structures that are now emerging, such as supply chains, virtual enterprises, interconnected organisations or extended enterprises, as well as in mergers and acquisitions. Composed of over 40 papers, Enterprise Interoperability V ranges from academic research through case studies to industrial and administrative experience of interoperability. The international nature of the authorship contnues to broaden. Many of the papers have examples and illustrations calculated to deepen understanding and generate new ideas. The I-ESA'12 Conference from which this book is drawn was organized by Polytechnic University of Valencia, on behalf INTERVAL, and the European Virtual Laboratory for Enterprise Interoperability (INTEROP-VLab) and sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC). A concise reference to the state of the art in systems interoperability, Enterprise Interoperability V will be of great value to engineers and computer scientists working in manufacturing and other process industries and to software engineers and electronic and manufacturing engineers working in the academic environment.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 5th International IFIP Working Conference on Enterprise Interoperability (IWEI 2013), held in Enschede, The Netherlands, during March 27–28, 2013. The theme for IWEI 2013 was “Information Services and Processes for the Interoperable Economy and Society.” The 15 full papers presented in this volume were carefully selected from 35 submissions. The selection was based on a thorough review process, in which each paper was reviewed by at least three experts in the field. The papers are representative of the current research activities in the area of enterprise interoperability and are grouped into six sections: enterprise service interoperability, enterprise interoperability in sectors, interoperability methodology, interoperability for specific application types, strategic and tactical aspects of enterprise interoperability, and ontology-based interoperability. Two keynotes and an invited paper complete this volume.

This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings of the 17th IFIP WG 5.1 International Conference on Product Lifecycle Management, PLM 2020, held in Rapperswil, Switzerland, in July 2020. The conference was held virtually due to the COVID-19 crisis. The 60 revised full papers presented together with 2 technical industrial papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 80 submissions. The papers are organized in the following topical sections: smart factory; digital twins; Internet of Things (IoT, IIoT); analytics in the order fulfillment process; ontologies for interoperability; tools to support early design phases; new product development; business models; circular economy; maturity implementation and adoption; model based systems engineering; artificial intelligence in CAx, MBE, and PLM; building information modelling; and industrial technical contributions.

In a fast changing world governed by innovative Enterprise Services and the Future Internet, the issue of Enterprise Interoperability is no longer limited to the interoperation of systems within a single company, but has become a much greater multi-view issue of interoperability throughout a Network of Enterprises. This book contains the proceedings of 13 workshops presented as short papers and discussions held at each workshop. The workshops were co-located with the I-ESA’12 Conference organized by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. Complementary to the conference program, the workshops aimed at exploiting new issues, challenges and solutions for Enterprise Interoperability. The scope of the workshops spanned a wide range of interoperability issues in Service Science and Innovation, Model Driven Interoperability, Service Oriented Architectures, Factories of the Future, Enterprise Networks and Management, SME Aspects and Standards.

Internet-based information systems, the second covering the large-scale in- gration of heterogeneous computing systems and data resources with the aim of providing a global computing space. Eachofthesefourconferencesencouragesresearcherstotreattheirrespective topics within a framework that incorporates jointly (a) theory, (b) conceptual design and development, and (c) applications, in particular case studies and industrial solutions. Following and expanding the model created in 2003, we again solicited and selected quality workshop proposals to complement the more “archival” nature of the main conferences with research results in a number of selected and more “avant-garde” areas related to the general topic of Web-based distributed c- puting. For instance, the so-called Semantic Web has given rise to several novel research areas combining linguistics, information systems technology, and ar- ?cial intelligence, such as the modeling of (legal) regulatory systems and the ubiquitous nature of their usage. We were glad to see that ten of our earlier s- cessful workshops (ADI, CAMS, EI2N, SWWS, ORM, OnToContent, MONET, SEMELS, COMBEK, IWSSA) re-appeared in 2008 with a second, third or even ?fth edition, sometimes by alliance with other newly emerging workshops, and that no fewer than three brand-new independent workshops could be selected from proposals and hosted: ISDE, ODIS and Beyond SAWSDL. Workshop - diences productively mingled with each other and with those of the main c- ferences, and there was considerable overlap in authors.

Enterprise solutions have emerged as promising tools for integrating and extending business processes across business functions. Supplying a clear and comprehensive introduction to the field, this book provides a detailed description of enterprise information integration—from the development of enterprise systems to extended enterprise information integration in supply chain environments. Enterprise Integration and Information Architecture: A Systems Perspective on Industrial Information Integration explains how to improve industrial information integration through the application of a systems approach. Describing how systems science is impacting current research in industrial information integration, it covers enterprise architecture, information architecture for enterprises, business process/work flow modeling, and enterprise information integration. Covering the emergence, growth, and extension of integrated enterprise systems, the book provides you with various perspectives of modern enterprise solutions. It introduces the critical concepts of ERP, industry-oriented enterprise resource planning, and entire resource planning. It also provides guidance on how to transition from extended enterprise integration in a supply chain environment to systems-based enterprise architecture, enterprise modeling, and enterprise modeling in a supply chain environment. The book proposes a new information architecture for enterprise and supply chain management. It presents modeling and integration information flows for enterprise information integration, together with the Internet of Things (IoT). It also explores the theory and methods of industrial information integration including integration approaches and enterprise application integration. Complete with numerous examples of extended enterprise integration in actual supply chain environments, the book illustrates the critical issues that arise in professional practice and also explores emerging trends in enterprise integration and its information architecture
