2012 Tutorials In Operations Research

The 2018 volume of INFORMS TutORials in Operations Research presents a number of chapters that highlight contemporary topics in optimization and the use of data to solve problems. We are delighted to present this exciting set of chapters on a number of leading-edge topics in optimization and their use for the solution of important contemporary real-world problems. We believe that the readers will find that the volume spans a number of important techniques that enable meaningful use of data, and we expect that the chapters will inspire them to consider new research areas and modeling tools.

ORSI Ahmedabad chapters has taken the initiatives to conduct an annual conference focusing on theory and practice of operational Research in the Indian context. These conferences are named as Management Science and practice (MSP). The peer review edition proceedings of the conference are published for wider dissemination. The 5th edition of MSP was held at IIM Indore in August 2012. This event was attended by about 50 scholars. A dozen invited presentations from eminent academicians formed the core academic program. The edited proceedings are presented in this volume.

This volume is a collection designed to address the debates on risk and optimization in an uncertain world. It contains two chapters on the quantification of risk, three on extending decision-making methodology, three on optimization under uncertainty, two on optimizing stochastic systems, and one on procurement auctions.
