There are two sides to every story, any good writer can tell you that. Well, we took this quite literally. Our writers were struggling with writers blocks on their individual books and needed to find a way to get past it. What they did was as unusual as this book. First, they took a scientific approach to understanding the reason for the block and identified methods to modify the causes. Second, they exercised their minds by free telling (stories without regard to decency, spelling or grammar). As our authors are humorists, the stories are intended to be funny. You can clearly see how the stories morph as the writers blocks decrease. Now, this book is split, in hard copy it makes more sense, on the left side of the book which is seen by the right and free thinking part of the brain are the crazy stories, on the other side of the book is the science of overcoming writers block. This book is not for the weak of heart and the content is intended strictly for a mature audience.

This book is not for the weak of heart and the content is intended strictly for a mature audience. And yes that means one with a twisted sense of humor. Sorry, but we do intend to offend everyone. Our apolgies go to those we missed this go around. Don't worry, we have a sequel coming out soon and we intend on getting to you! This book makes sense to people with multiple personalities. On one side is the logical, scientific approach to resolving a writers big issue: Writers Block. On the other side of this book is just pure garbage as our authors attempt to write to break their blocks. It was a dark and stormy night, the hum of the computer and the clakity clack of the keys as an obnoxious laugh breaks the silence. Every writer knows the struggle of writing and completing a story. Eventually, writers hit a wall known commonly as 'Writers Block'. There are some rational and scientific explanations as to why this occurs and some techniques that can be used to alleviate the physical inhibitors. On the other hand, our authors, being humorists did what they did best...banter. And because they are writers they did it in stories. You can see on the crazy and offensive side of this book, that they tell some pretty weird tales when allowed to free their minds in an exercise of writing 5 words. 5 Words is a game. Give a person 5 random words and then allow them a very short period of time to write a story. Spelling and grammar don't count and the subject matter should ignore taboos and personal beliefs. This exercise is intended to release your creative mind so it can go back to doing what it needs to...write.

Beautifully written and unexpectedly moving, John Darnielle's audacious and gripping debut novel Wolf in White Van is a marvel of storytelling and genuine literary delicacy. Welcome to Trace Italian, a game of strategy and survival! You may now make your first move. Isolated by a disfiguring injury since the age of seventeen, Sean Phillips crafts imaginary worlds for strangers to play in. From his small apartment in southern California, he orchestrates fantastic adventures where possibilities, both dark and bright, open in the boundaries between the real and the imagined. His primary creation, Trace Italian, is an intricate text-role playing game that enables participants far and wide to explore a dystopian America, seeking refuge amidst the ruin. However, when two high school players, Lance and Carrie, extend the game into their reality, the consequences are horrifying, leaving Sean to account for it. Darnielle’s Wolf in White Van invites us to comprehend the depth and intricacy of Sean's life. Told in reverse, the story draws us back to the moment that fundamentally altered Sean’s life as he knows it.

“Writing is spooky,” according to Norman Mailer. “There is no routine of an office to keep you going, only the blank page each morning, and you never know where your words are coming from, those divine words.” In The Spooky Art, Mailer discusses with signature candor the rewards and trials of the writing life, and recommends the tools to navigate it. Addressing the reader in a conversational tone, he draws on the best of more than fifty years of his own criticism, advice, and detailed observations about the writer’s craft. Praise for The Spooky Art “The Spooky Art shows Mailer’s brave willingness to take on demanding forms and daunting issues. . . . He has been a thoughtful and stylish witness to the best and worst of the American century.”—The Boston Globe “At his best—as artists should be judged—Mailer is indispensable, an American treasure. There is enough of his best in this book for it to be welcomed with gratitude.”—The Washington Post “[The Spooky Art] should nourish and inform—as well as entertain—almost any serious reader of the novel.”—Baltimore Sun “The richest book ever written about the writer’s subconscious.”—The Philadelphia Inquirer “Striking . . . entrancingly frank.”—Entertainment Weekly Praise for Norman Mailer “[Norman Mailer] loomed over American letters longer and larger than any other writer of his generation.”—The New York Times “A writer of the greatest and most reckless talent.”—The New Yorker “A devastatingly alive and original creative mind.”—Life “Mailer is fierce, courageous, and reckless and nearly everything he writes has sections of headlong brilliance.”—The New York Review of Books “The largest mind and imagination [in modern] American literature . . . Unlike just about every American writer since Henry James, Mailer has managed to grow and become richer in wisdom with each new book.”—Chicago Tribune “Mailer is a master of his craft. His language carries you through the story like a leaf on a stream.”—The Cincinnati Post

So for those of you who believe that sequels are better than the original, you're in luck. Due to the overwhelming demand for more sick and perverse text, we have yet again created a book filled with words, sentences, paragraphs and even some chapter headings. Yep. We rolled it into a nice pretty package and presented it as a completely legitimate novel intended to be placed on the bookshelf between Wuthering Heights and The Great Gatsby. Yes, both those books were sick too, you just need to read it better to know what I'm talking about!Okay, I digress. We wrote this second book because you probably raced through the first one and thought, "damn, I'm still hard." No worries, our sick and twisted minds delivered once again.
