The Child Maltreatment 2007 report states that there were about 3.2 million referrals of child abuse and neglect that included approximately 5.8 million children. In 1993, the Third National Incidence Study found that girls are sexually abused three times more often than boys. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, between 1998 and 2002, 84% of spouse abuse victims were females, and 86% of victims of dating partner abuse were female. Research indicates that women abused in childhood often look for mates who are like their abusers. Whether physical or emotional, it is never okay for a husband, boyfriend, or any close male acquaintance to become abusive. Women everywhere have to cope with feelings of inadequacy, low self-esteem, and depression at the hands of men who profess to love and care about them. But there is an answer. Chapter 3 The First Judgment: The World Prior To Adam There may have been many judgments upon the earth since its beginning millions or billions of years ago; however, the present commentary will deal only with the last tens of thousands of years of earth’s existence. In Genesis 1:2, the verses written by Moses (as author of the Genesis account) portray an earth that was veiled in darkness so that its form could not be discerned. The earth at that time was covered with water (ice) high above the mountain tops so that it gave the appearance of being a dark revolving sphere of frozen water (Table-2). God’s spirit is described as hovering over this revolving ball of water and brooding over the sad condition of this dark, void planet. God did not create a dark and dismal planet at the beginning, because God does not create darkness; in fact, darkness is incompatible with His existence and presence. So what had happened that God viewed (Gen. 1:2) such a decrepit state of the world? Does scripture attempt to explain this phenomenon, or does the inspired word of God remain silent on this issue? It was first proposed as a theory by the Scotsman Thomas Chalmers in the early 19th century that a “gap” in time existed between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2. This gap-in-time would encompass a “ruin-reconstruction theme” and the existence of pre-Adamic living beings. Obviously, a huge catastrophic event would have had to occur to produce this decadent state of the world. The “gap concept” was later popularized by mention in the margin notes of the Scofield Reference Bible.

Strange Work is a verse by verse commentary on the Bible book of Revelation. Nearly three millennia ago, the prophet Isaiah predicted that the Lord God of hosts would one day rise up and do a strange work on the Earth. He said it would come as a destruction upon the whole earth (Isaiah 28:21-22). The last thing that modern man expects is that the true and living God will one day actually intervene upon the Earth. Yet, with one voice, the prophets of the Bible predict that is exactly what He will do. The book of Revelation is the most detailed of the Bible's prophecies of that fast approaching supernatural intervention on planet Earth. Someone has dubbed the book of Revelation, ""The prophetic Grand Central Station of the Bible."" That is a very good way to describe it. All the great eschatological (end time) themes in the Bible run to the book of Revelation like train-tracks to a central hub.
