Tommie Mabry tells the inspirational story of his life growing up in Jackson, Mississippi, his troubled youth and how basketball changed and redirected his life. He played on various teams as a youth in Jackson, for the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzlies, at Lawson State in Birmingham, Alabama, and finally for Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, Mississippi.

OVERVIEWThe story within describes an uprising, a resistive, seeming unyielding kind, resulting in a declaration of immense importance. The story begins with the hopes of a young Pakistani woman named Jehan, who attempts to find a lost but remarkable teacher. Her search leads to Nigeria a country troubled in tragic terrorist waves similar to those in many places around the world. There, in the midst of ongoing national catastrophe, she discovers two young men with different goals, and life views. Nonetheless, these three are bound together by circumstances beyond their control. This happens in JOS a city (initials signifying "Jesus our Savior") near the center of the country. There they are forced into a Christian versus Muslim Wahhabeist world, witnessing much tragedy because of faith seeded intolerance. The letters from Jehan to her Professor are a record of her journey into that troubled world and its outcome. They give us an enlightment, a proposal to secure the future, a declaration of the good things in the religious and moral lesions of the past.
