Birds are the most obvious wild things we have around us. They are much watched and much loved, not least by poets. "Birds, Beasts and Flowers" is a collection of poetry by the English author D. H. Lawrence, first published in 1923. The poems in the collection include some of Lawrence's finest reflections on the "otherness" of the non-human world. The recollections on the topic were inspired by Lawrence's stay in San Gervasio near Florence in September 1920. The author managed to transfer the atmosphere of that place and time masterfully.
