A Selected Annotated Bibliography Of Environmental Studies Of Argentina Chile And Uruguay

The bibliography was compiled as a by-product of the regular reference-searching that is one aspect of the normal workload of the Technical Information Section, USAF ETAC. Many of the abstracts herein were taken from the publications themselves, many others, or parts of abstracts, from Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts (Am. Met. Soc.), and others were prepared by members of the Technical Information Section of USAF ETAC.

Certain techniques applicable to improve short-range forecasting are discussed briefly and references are furnished from which the reader can obtain detailed information on the various methods. (Author).

Observations from 294 Air Force and National Weather Service Stations scattered throughout the United States were used to study the diurnal variation of summertime thunderstorm activity. The results of this study are summarized in isoline frequency charts giving monthly values of the 24-hour mean, the variance of the mean hourly values, hours of maximum frequency, and the phase, amplitude, and explained variance of the diurnal and semidiurnal harmonics. The technical note furnishes a complete listing of the prepared technical seminars at AWS wing headquarters which are available for loan to all AWS units for local presentation. The listing includes the seminar subject, author (where available), number of copies available, period of loan, approximate presentation time, type of illustrative material, and a brief synopsis of the seminar material.
