This document outlines a spatial modelling framework relevant to managing forest-dwelling species. The northern spotted owl, an endangered Species at Risk, is used as the case study for framework development and application. The authors present results from development of the component models and from the testing of biological hypotheses and sensitivity analyses of biological assumptions about the northern spotted owl and its ecology. Further they demonstrate application of the framework for assessment of management options for the northern spotted owl and towards identifying critical habitat. This project was undertaken in collaboration with the Canadian Spotted Owl Recovery Team, and the document also outlines the collaborative approach used to address species recovery.--Publisher's website.
