Excerpt from Anita's Trial: Or Our Girls in Camp, a Comedy in Three Acts for Female Characters Only Camping ground in a clearing of the woods. At back a rustic hut or "lean-to," the whole front open to audience. One side, a small tent. Enter, L., Mary and Helen, carrying kettles, fishing-poles, paddles, blankets, etc. Mary. How natural it all looks! Helen. Yes, not a leaf altered! Mary. The old lean-to almost as good as ever. (They stand paddles and fishing-poles against lean-to, and throw down rest of loads.) Hel. Those might be the very violets we picked last year! Mary. And these the very eggshells we scattered. Hel. And here are some old tomato cans! Come, let's toss them into the lake, so as not to offend Clover's artistic eye! What will you give me if I hit the old willow? (Aims can.) Mary. What, Kate's willow.? The fatal willow.? Hel. (throwing can offstage, L.). There! How's that? Mary. I'll go you one better. (Takes deliberate aim, right arm raised.) (Enter Nan, L., with camera.) Nan. I just dodged a tomato can on its hurried way to the lake. Oh, do just keep that position a moment, Mary; it's awfully suggestive. (Sets up camera.) Mary. Well, be quick about it. (Enter Aunt Matilda, L., with cap-bag, leaning on arm of Clover, who carries parasol over Aunt Matilda's head.) Clover. Well, here we are. (Closes parasol.) How secluded the place is! You'd never dream the highroad to the city ran so close. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Upon his retirement from active service as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia in 2011, Lawrence L. Koontz, Jr. had completed more than four decades of service to citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In order to recognize that service and help preserve Justice Koontz legacy as one of the outstanding jurists in Virginia and the United States, the Salem/Roanoke County Bar Association instituted this project to collect all of Justice Koontz's published opinions, both from his tenure as a Justice of the Supreme Court and as an inaugural member of the Court of Appeals of Virginia. The first volume to be produced by the Opinions Project includes opinions, concurrences and dissents authored by Justice Koontz during the first five years of his service on the Court of Appeals. During this time, he served as Chief Judge of the Court, having been elected to that position following the sudden and untimely death of E. Ballard Baker, the first Chief Judge of the Court.

From 3rd to 5th of September 2015 the 17th international ProMath conference (Problem Solving in Mathematics Education) took place at the Faculty of Education of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (Germany). For the first time, it was combined with the annual meeting of the working group “Problem Solving” of the Society of Didactics of Mathematics. This book contains 20 peer reviewed articles of researchers from five European countries. The topics of the papers evolved around different areas of learning and problem solving. There are some theoretical papers on problem oriented mathematics instruction and specific aspects of problem solving and creativity as well as reports on detailed studies of problem solving processes of pupils and preservice teachers. Authors also present experiences with “real” problem solving instruction in different countries, considerations and teaching experiments on didactic concepts to foster pupils’ problem solving abilities, and they describe mathematically rich problem fields and their potentials for mathematical investigations in class. ProMath is a group of experienced and early career researchers in the field of mathematics education who are interested in investigating and fostering mathematical problem solving and problem oriented mathematics teaching.

On June 25, 1998, Anita Wooldridge was taken from her parents' home in broad daylight by a convicted rapist. For eight terrifying days, Anita was savagely beaten and raped by her captor, who locked her in a metal storage cabinet for hours at a time. With only a steadfast faith in God to comfort her, Anita refused to give up hope that she would be found.Eight Days in Darkness chronicles the shocking events of Anita's kidnapping, including her transport across state lines, and the impressive efforts of local authorities and FBI agents which led to her rescue and the dramatic capture and conviction of her abductor. Anita's story is still used today as a case study for prospective FBI agents, and Eight Days in Darkness paints a portrait of the real-life battle between good and evil.
