News reports - including a segment on 60 Minutes - have depicted the entire country of Mexico as being an absolute mess, awash in blood and guns on every street corner. Ironically, people living there have a dramatically different perspective, especially in the "fly-in" destinations that continue to hold their value. Despite what you may have heard, read and seen, the country is not under siege. The laid-back lure of Mexico's beaches, forests, deserts, people, and culture has been capturing visitors and second-home buyers for decades and has become an international draw no longer driven solely by Americans and Canadians. Not only is land plentiful, exotic, captivating, and beautiful but also it is typically more affordable than most of the property found in America's getaway areas. Much has been written about the kidnappings, roadside hijackings, crooked cops and ever the infamous bandidos in some of the regions of Mexico. Most of the violence south of the border, however, is directly related to the drug cartels and the authorities who are trying to eradicate them. There is absolutely no pattern of any innocent U.S. citizens being randomly murdered in drug violence. Exploitation filmmakers played a significant role in revolutionizing American cinema during the 1960s and early 1970s, churning out a string of independent Westerns, biker films, nudie-cuties and horror flicks in record times and often on shoestring budgets. With titles like Horror of the Blood Monsters, Cycle Savages and The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant, these films pushed the boundaries of acceptable on-screen violence and nudity and kept the American theater industry afloat as several major studios teetered on the brink of financial collapse. This work tells the story of that "other" Hollywood through interviews with 16 directors, performers, screenwriters, and stuntmen who helped bring these zero-budget films to the screen against incredible odds. The interviews give insights into exploitation filmmaking from the perspectives of pioneering directors Al Adamson and Jack Hill, actors Jenifer Bishop and Robert Dix, and stuntmen Gary Kent and Gary Littlejohn, and others. The work includes more than 50 photographs, including many rare behind-the-scenes images of the filmmakers on set.

Most of the following stories have been written in Scotland and Sweden. My research for the Harrington curse took place in Aberlady near North Berwick, Scotland. My latest work, Eight Skulls of Teversham, was written partly in Inverness, taking in the atmosphere of the misty hills of Scotlands highlandssuch a beautiful sight to behold. Double exposure was also created with a location of Scotland in mind, taking me back to my ancestors, the Scott clan, and the famous Sir Walter Scott. The stories created in Sweden were cracked porcelain, which covered a wide area of mental and physical abuse. This fictitious book was based on factual events and concerned itself with the life of Ruth Ashley, a psychiatric nurse. I am convinced that a ghost called Sarah influenced my writing, something called automatic writing. For the Love of Charlotte was written in the United States of America, and I must confess greatly influenced by the 9/11 attack on the twin towers in 2001. Again the writing was influenced by ghosts. It is my dream that sooner or later, someone will read this work and consider writing a screenplay for television or movie. Now wouldnt that be good? Teversham is actually in Cambridgeshire, but for the story, there is one on the Scottish border, both a town and a village where the eight skulls existed. Any similarity is purely coincidental and should not be mistaken for the small village that is in Cambridgeshire.
