Excerpt from Cavalry Drill Regulations: United States Army, Adopted Oct, 3, 1891 A board of officers consisting of Lieut. Col. Louis II. Carpenter, Seventh Cavalry; Capt. Edward S. Godfrey, Seventh Cavalry; and Capt. Ernest A. Garlington, Seventh Cavalry; with First Lieut. Tyree It. Rivers, Third Cavalry, as Recorder, having revised the Drill Regulations for Cavalry, and the same having been further revised by Maj. Gen. Thomas II. Ruger, United States Army, under special instructions of the War Department, the revision is approved by the President and is published for the Information and government of the Army, and for the observance of the Militia of the United States. To insure uniformity throughout the Army, all Cavalry exercises and maneuvers not embraced In this system are prohibited, and those herein prescribed will be strictly observed. The Drill Regulations for Cavalry, of 1896, having been revised and corrected by a board of officers, under special Instructions of the War Department, the revision Is approved by the President.
