This book offers insights into the contemporary issues in banking with a special focus on the recent European regulatory reforms, governance and the performance of firms. Written by prestigious professors and expert academics in the field, the book also covers a diverse set of topics that have gained great importance in this sector such as firm financing, culture, risk and other challenges faced by banks. The aim of this book is to bring academic work on contemporary issues in financial institutions and markets. The general theme is designed to allow for a wide range of topics covering the diverse nature of academic research in banking and finance. As a consequence the contributions cover a wide range of issues across a broad spectrum, including: bank business models, bank competition and stability, credit card pricing and risk; bank supervision; and international investments. This book was originally published as a special issue of The European Journal of Finance.

This special edition includes studies by the University of Malta, MSc Banking and Finance graduates and the respective lecturers, on financial services within particular countries or regions and studies of themes such as credit risk management, fund management and evaluation, forex hedging using derivatives and sovereign fixed income portfolios.

Contemporary Studies in Economic and Financial Analysis (CSEF 104) dedicates 16 chapters in articles and studies on Contemporary Issues of Business Economics and Finance. Authors contributed from the International Applied Social Science Congress, held in Turkey.
