Cottage Residences was one of the most successful pattern books published in the 19th century. Written by designer and landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing, this book introduced the Picturesque Gothic style for suburban and country residences. This book contains 28 original designs for houses with notes on suggested building materials and ornamental gardens.?Cottage Residences?had a profound impact on Victorian house design, and many houses built from this pattern book still survive today.
