This outstanding monograph presents a detailed description of cytopathological lesions of the female genital tract. Twelve international experts in the cytopathology of glandular lesions cover the complete spectrum of this challenging subject. Genital glandular lesions, both benign and malignant, are an appealing field of cytopathology. Malignant lesions of the endocervix and endometrium are becoming more common all over the world, compared to squamous cell carcinoma. In situ and invasive endocervical adenocarcinoma, endometrial adenocarcinoma and endometrial hyperplasias are presented in this book. Additionally ovarian lesions focusing data obtained from detailed intraoperative studies and other areas of the genital tract, such as the vulva and fallopian tube, which are less known and thus have seen fewer publications, are also shown. The impact of the Bethesda System, as well as basic and ancillary techniques in the study of glandular lesions complete the monograph. This book will be of great use to cytopathologists, pathologists and cytotechnologists and to students of these specialities as it deals with the most common areas of their daily work.

The neoplasms found in the female genital tract are numerous and growing more complex. Cytology and Surgical Pathology of Gynecologic Neoplasms has been written to provide a practical reference for practicing pathologists and cytopathologists in a quick and concise fashion. The primary focus of this book is on gynecological tumors, specifically common ones and their benign mimics. Emphasis is placed on morphologic recognition, resolving common diagnostic problems seen in routine practices, and discussion of current classification of gynecologic malignancies. Special references to the differential diagnosis and pitfalls of each entity are included. The role of cytology and its correlation with histology is richly illustrated and discussed. Also presented is the practical use of ancillary studies such as molecular diagnostic testing and immunohistochemistry. With a unique emphasis on the correlation between cytology and surgical pathology, Cytology and Surgical Pathology of Gynecologic Neoplasms provides a ready reference for both the practicing pathologist and pathologist in training in finding quick answers to their diagnostic challenges.

This text is written for the obstetrician, gynecologist, pathologist, and for residents training in these disciplines. It is a multi-authored book and the editor is aware of the problems this can create, but the expansion of information in the field of gynecologic pathology renders single au thorship obsolete. The format is largely traditional but the contents in clude topics that have not appeared in past texts. Clear cell adenocarcinoma of the vagina and vaginal and cervical adenoses are discussed in detail in a separate chapter. A chapter on embryology and congenital anomalies is writ ten by an embryologist and the advantage of its inclusion is self evident. Ovarian neoplasms in childhood and ado lescence are fortunately rare occurrences, but information concerning them is generally not readily available in exist ing texts. It is of sufficient importance to deserve a separate chapter. Amniotic fluid analysis for fetal viability is now commonly used and for this reason a detailed discussion of this subject is presented. A chapter is included on gross description and prepara tion of gynecologic specimens. It contains the input and review of several directors of gynecologic-pathology labo ratories.
