Of activities under the Forest Pest Management and Damage Appraisal project. Activities included a hazard rating system for mountain pine beetle; assessing the impact of dwarf mistletoe in jack pine stands; technology transfer, development and implementation of pest surveys in young stands; spruce beetle pheromone development; root rot surveys in jack pine stands; spruce budworm pheromone trapping in northern Alberta; spruce budworm surveys in northern Alberta; jack pine budworm pheromone development; adapting a geographic information system to forest insect and disease survey use; and diagnostic and advisory services. Project expenditures are summarized and recommendations as to the future of various projects are made.

Sitka spruce, the largest of the world's spruces, is an important component of British Columbia's coastal forests. Its ecology gives it a special place in the sustainable management of the province's forests. However, in west coast forestry it is poorly known in comparison with its main coniferous companions -- Douglas-fir, western redcedar, and western hemlock. As an important international forestry resource, it is crucial that Sitka spruce -- its ecology and the ecosystems in which it occurs -- be clearly understood by those who are involved with its management.

On an enclosed computer diskette, annotations are provided for nearly 700 references dealing with taxonomy, biology, ecology, and management of North American species of weevils in the genus Pissodes. The bibliography includes references spanning the years 1817 to 1996, inclusive. References are arranged alphabetically and consecutively numbered. Indexes for authors, subjects, hosts, and geographical distribution are included.The purpose of this bibliography is to provide easy access to published information on this group of forest insects, much of which is not readily accessible through on-line data bases.
