It is long after dark when they arrive at the homestead. Martin knocks frantically on the front door. Almost immediately, the door opens. There stands Martin with his clothes, still drenched in blood. The farmer and his wife stand before him shocked. The woman screams when she sees the blood. Deep grooves are engraved on Martin’s pale face, from grief and suffering. ‘Sir, please can you help me? My baby fell off the wagon, and the iron wheels have crushed him. My wife faints continually, and I haven’t got anywhere else to go,’ Martin pleads with the farmer.

The Dawn Of A New Day is a collection of poems that bring insight and awareness to everyday living. These poems are shared experiences of how the world looks through the eyes of someone who got a second chance in life. I share my rebirth to a new day and all the wonders that came with it. The sharing of daily experiences from the hardship of the aged, the dreams of the young to Veterans and their story, and how time or should I say How Old Father Time waits on no one. The principles that some are judged by and the morals others live by. But through prayer and faith in the Lord He will continually bring us through to that Dawn Of A New Day. I thought this would be a befitting title to follow my previous book After The Storm Is Over, because after the storm, The Dawn Of A New Day, brings calmness and growth. All praises to God, for the same one who holds The Heavens in place - Also guides Our steps. I pray that these poems will inspire, bless and comfort you.

As modern foreign policy and international relations encompass more and more scientific issues, we are moving towards a new type of diplomacy, known as “Science Diplomacy”. Will this new diplomacy of the 21st century prove to be more effective than past diplomacy for the big issues facing the world, such as climate change, food and water insecurity, diminishing biodiversity, pandemic disease, public health, genomics or environmental collapse, mineral exploitation, health and international scientific endeavours such as those in the space and the Antarctic?Providing a new area of academic focus that has only gathered momentum in the last few years, this book considers these questions by bringing together a distinguished team of international specialists to look at various facets of how diplomacy and science are influenced by each other.The book not only dissects the ways that politics, science and diplomacy have become intertwined, but also highlights how the world's seemingly most intractable problems can be tackled with international collaboration and diplomacy that is rooted in science, and driven by technology. In late 2017 and early 2018, South Africa and Zimbabwe both experienced rapid and unexpected political transitions. In Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, the only leader the country had ever known, was replaced in a “soft coup” by his erstwhile vice-president, Emmerson Mnangagwa. Over a twelve-day period in February 2018, South African president Jacob Zuma was prematurely forced from office by his former deputy president, Cyril Ramaphosa. The widespread popular rejoicing that accompanied their arrival compounded the shock of these sudden transitions. New Leaders, New Dawns? explores these political transitions and the way they were received. Contributors consider how the former liberation heroes Mugabe and Zuma could have fallen so low; the underlying reasons for their ouster; what happened to their liberation movements turned ruling parties; and, perhaps most importantly, what the rise to power of Ramaphosa and Mnangagwa foreshadowed. Bringing together fourteen leading international scholars of southern Africa, and adopting a political economy framework, this volume argues that the changes in leadership are welcome, but insufficient. While the time had come for Zuma and Mugabe to go, there is little in the personal histories or early policy actions of Ramaphosa and Mnangagwa that suggests they will be capable of addressing the profound social, economic, and political problems both countries face. New Leaders, New Dawns? reveals that despite what these new leaders may have promised, a “new dawn” has not yet arrived in southern Africa.
