This book contains extended and revised versions of a set of selected papers from two workshops organized by the Euro Working Group on Decision Support Systems (EWG-DSS), which were held in London and Paris, in June and November 2011, respectively. The workshop themes were "Decision Support Systems" and "Collaborative Decision Making." The 11 papers were selected from 52 submissions and are representative of the current research in these fields. They address challenges such as conceptual models, software specification and simulation, collaborative requirements specification, as well as multi-objective and multi-criteria decision making.

The book reports on the latest advances and challenges of soft computing. It gathers original scientific contributions written by top scientists in the field and covering theories, methods and applications in a number of research areas related to soft-computing, such as decision-making, probabilistic reasoning, image processing, control, neural networks and data analysis.

The two-volume set LNAI 8265 and LNAI 8266 constitutes the proceedings of the 12th Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, MICAI 2013, held in Mexico City, Mexico, in November 2013. The total of 85 papers presented in these proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from 284 submissions. The current perspectives of smart and sustainable manufacturing systems hold important implications for current practices and understanding these concepts for further implications. This comprehensive reference text discusses both centralized and decentralized production systems, using variety of new cutting-edge approaches to solve the problem. The text covers simulation-based approaches including social network-based approaches, discrete event-based approaches, and knowledge based for smart and sustainable systems. The volume offers an exploration of methods for analysis of emotion in negotiation, such as cognitive modeling, discourse analysis, all testing, subsequent multidimensional scaling, impression rating, and graph modeling for conflict resolution, reasonable and unreasonable disagreement. It covers activities, such as business negotiation, conflict solving, bargaining, task management meetings, discussions, and elaborates on different kinds of emotions. Some emotions stimulate negotiation (e.g. empathy), others -hinder it (e.g. disgust). However, all emotions open a door to uncertainty in relations and negotiation, which in turn provides an opportunity. The volume views language in negotiation not only as a vehicle for transmission of thought but also as a manifestation of emotion and the ethical.

This work proposes the multilayered information fusion system MACRO (multilayer attribute-based conflict-reducing observation) and the μBalTLCS (fuzzified balanced two-layer conflict solving) fusion algorithm to reduce the impact of conflicts on the fusion result. In addition, a sensor defect detection method, which is based on the continuous monitoring of sensor reliabilities, is presented. The performances of the contributions are shown by their evaluation in the scope of both a publicly available data set and a machine condition monitoring application under laboratory conditions. Here, the MACRO system yields the best results compared to state-of-the-art fusion mechanisms.
