Excerpt from Harris's General Business Directory of the Cities of Pittsburgh Allegheny: With the Environs After a great deal of time, toil and labor, we now present the public with a general Directory of our two Cities, at the head of navigation on the Ohio, Pittsburgh and Allegheny, and the towns, business, and population immediately around, and generally within a circle of five miles of old Fort Pitt; and refer to and give the business, cards, and names of our subscribers, in several towns, &c., connected with our city, by the Monongahehela and Allegheny, and by the Pennsylvania Canals, Railroads, &c., and the names and cards of several of our subscribers from other towns, cities, &c. This is our fifth, and perhaps our last work and edition of the kind, that we shall ever publish; especially, if we are not much better patronised and paid for our present work and labor, than we were with our four former editions.
