This book is the testimony of a young man who will inspire you. As a boy in New Haven, Connecticut, all Clinny wanted was peace—of his mental health, his rough neighborhood, and his broken home. He had struggled as a student in the education system and always seemed to be a troubled kid. Before things got worse, God had revealed something to him. Upon finding his purpose after high school, Clinny decided to further his education and apply to college. But things didn’t go as planned. After dropping out his freshman year, his parents divorcing, and losing a friend to gun violence, Clinny fell into depression and was in a battle between light and darkness. If Clinny wants to survive, he must let go of the past and develop trust in God—while not making the wrong decisions. This amazing story, Out the Trenches to My Destiny: Nothing in Your Past Looks Like Your Future, is a self-help and inspirational testimony to the young teens and adult target audience. This story shows how it is never too late for God to turn your life around. He invites you to join him in reaching your destiny.

Working daily now for over eight years in this environment has opened my eyes and heart to the epidemic of crime in America and the horrible consequences it has on both the criminal and their victims. Most of our correctional facilities are under- funded, under staffed and in dire need of renovated and/or new facilities to secure the inmate population they are required to service. At Riverside where I am privileged to minister our facilities are modern, exceptionally clean and managed by a top-notch staff. Even with these assets our stress level is very high as we seek to house and provide care for a daily average of 1300 inmates. It takes an incredible amount of time, talent and finances for the sworn staff to maintain security and a safe environment for both the inmate population and our staff. This is true in any jail or prison and the average citizen has no concept what it is really like on the inside. I have developed such a high respect for Correctional Officers who work every day on the front line, the civilian staff who provide much needed programs and support and most of all, the Command staff and Administrators who are responsible for the over-all management of these facilities. They need and deserve our daily prayers.

A nonfiction daily devotional with a twist. This is a story of a stay-at-home mother who was forgetting how to put God first in her day. This led to much struggle as God should be number one, but in going with the busy ways of the world, it's far too easy to forget how to see God in each new day. Lea Michelle's journey shows that walking with God is not something that is learned overnight. It takes great practice to learn how to be in the world but not of it! It takes a good solid year, 365 days, to build a lifelong routine of knowing how to make Christ a part of your day each and every day. It takes a year to discover how to never lose sight that the Holy Spirit gives us our daily bread and walks with us always. Lea Michelle's prayer is that you will pick up a pen and follow along with her journey. She has challenging questions at the end of each day for you to ponder. Challenge yourself and hold yourself accountable to walking with God each new day along with Lea Michelle. Share your heart for others to see on social media with the hashtag #A365DayJourney or share your discoveries in a private notebook. She prays that you too will open your eyes to a daily life, walking hand in hand, with our Savior Jesus Christ!
