Draft Environmental Guidelines For The Review Of Subdivisions In Alberta

The goal of the Land-use Framework is to sustain Alberta's growing economy, but balance this with Albertans' social and environmental goals. This draft plan describes the desired planning process and outlines the six basic strategies to improve land-use decision-making in Alberta. The strategies include creating six land-use regions; establishing a cabinet committee with regional advisory councils; using "cumulative effects management" at the regional level; developing conservation and stewardship strategies; establishing an information, monitoring and knowledge system for planning and decision making; and including Aboriginal people in land-use planning.--Includes text from document.

"In June 2007, Alberta Environment introduced the Alberta Tier 1 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines (AENV 2007a), and the Alberta Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines (AENV 2007b) at workshops in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. Workshop participants provided questions to the presenters to answer verbally during the sessions. For the benefit of the workshop attendees and others who are interested in the workshop material, these questions and answers have been drafted into the document Frequently Asked Questions on the Alberta Tier 1 and Tier 2 Soil and Groundwater Remediation Guidelines. Other frequently asked questions on the proposed remediation certificate program have been included to provide readers with a broader scope of information."--Document.

The Lower Athabasca Regional Plan (LARP) will identify and set resource and environmental management outcomes for air, land, water and biodiversity, and guide future resource decisions while considering social and economic impacts.
