What if, in this age of unlimited data and distractions we've overlooked the most accurate, timely and relevant source of information we have - our dreams? In this extraordinary study of an ordinary experience, a veteran dreamer reveals a luminous perspective rooted in ancient wisdom that shows us our dreams are responding in real time to the questions and struggles we have every day.Executive, actor, therapist and coach Will Sharon shakes up conventional thinking and asks, what if our dreams are just as relevant to our goals and growth as the actions we take in our waking lives? For over a hundred years we've been told that dreams are elusive, irrelevant and need to be deciphered by an expert. "Dreams tell us what we're asking to know," Will Sharon says. If we animate them and give them dimension, they will inform us of the marvelous nature of our existence. Will examines how we became dependent on our cognitive minds and suggests "thinking" has run its course as our sole mode of decision making. Through real life examples of dreams, we learn that by embracing our imaginations we become aware of the entire conversation we are having with ourselves.Dreaming in the 21st Century, an Ancient Experience in a New Context explores reclaiming the dream experience first by redefining the language we use in order to make our dreams more accessible. Next we examine the nature of the interior conversation between our dreams and our waking life. The container for this comes from Irish philosophers: The soul is not in the body; the body is in the soul. And finally, we address the questions (often about sex and money) from our waking life that we bring to our dreaming life in search of answers."Dreams help us understand the dissonance between our current situation and the life we aspire to live."With a little curiosity and by following the simple steps described you can reclaim your stories as they invite you into the next larger version of yourself, encouraging you to become all you're meant to be.

"The diversity of contributions--from historians, political scientists, sociologists, and a pollster--distinguish The American Dream in the 21st Century from many other books on the topic. The multi-disciplinary focus is especially useful, as chapters provide cultural interpretations of Americans' attitudes toward the American Dream through the lenses of race, gender, religion and ethics."--Arne L. Kalleberg, Kenan Distinguished Professor of Sociology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

We are running out of ideas in Western society. Faced with global warming, Third World devastation, nuclear proliferation and the threat posed by religious conflict, we need new ways of thinking. After the loss and carnage of the Twentieth Century there is prevailing mood of uncertainty and paranoia, yet at the same time a denial of tragedy, a salvation fantasy, an illusion that we will be saved. The decline in social solidarity, the fragmentation of communal values and a growing sense of 'I' as opposed to 'we', are all signs of an inversion of moral certitudes, a disconnection from reality. This book asks what methods do we have at our disposal to understand and reverse this breakdown of communication within and between communities.

To avoid a repeat of those nationalist nightmares, a common European Dream emerged after WWII, which has since developed into some essential doctrines of European integration. This dream-inspired institutionalist context has framed intergovernmental bargaining, sectoral spillovers and transnational cooperation in European integration. The powerful European Dream has even encouraged Europeans toward closer integration, though they were, quite often, very reluctant to go further. This dream-driven approach and reluctant runner’s model have highlighted some fundamental realities of European integration, extremely inspiring for the future of the EU and the ongoing Asian regionalism. This book consists of three parts and thirteen chapters. It aims to explain European integration, the EU’s role in global governance and the EU’s impact upon Asian regionalism with the help of the European Dream approach and reluctant runners’ model. Trump’s unilateralism, the rising tensions between the US and PRC and the COVID-19 pandemic may be a turning point for world politics. Both globalization and global governance have consequently slowed down, giving place to regionalism and inter-regionalism. This book hopes to contribute to the rising debate over European integration, Asian regionalism and EU-Asian inter-regionalism.
