Buku ini disusun berdasarkan silabus terbaru 2013, yaitu Silabus Satuan Pendidikan 2017 kelas VII yang memuat 8 Kompetensi Dasar (KD) dalam dua semester. Setiap bab yang disajikan dalam buku ini memuat satu KD yang ingin dicapai. Keterampilan yang dikembangkan dalam buku ini juga terdiri dari Listening yang termuat dalam lagu yang bisa diunduh (dengan alamat terlampir), Speaking yang termuat dalam perkenalan, mem­per­ke­nalkan diri, meminta maaf, people description, animal description, dan lain-lain. Sementara untuk Rea­ding tersaji dengan sangat beragam, topik sesuai tema mulai dari people description, animals dan pu­blic building. Dari sini, siswa bisa mènjelajah banyak sekali kosakata dan keterampilan membaca, baik mem­baca nyaring maupun reading comprehension. Semua teks disajikan dalam bentuk teks deskriptif. Ke­te­ram­pilan lain yang tidak lepas dari muatan buku ini adalah keterampilan Writing dimana siswa juga di ajar­kan menuliskan hal-hal sederhana yang mereka ketahui dengan baik, misalnya mendeskripsikan, he­wan, orang yang dikenal baik, dan tempat tinggal baik sekolah maupun rumah tinggal. Seiring dengan perkembangan dunia pendidikan yang mengacu pada penggunaan teknologi, maka buku ini juga me­nya­ji­kan konsep blended learning, dimana siswa dapat mengakses beberapa bahan ajar dan kegiatan dengan mengklik beberapa yang telah disediakan.

This edited book explores and illustrates successful practices for online assessment and community-building, based on the authors' own classroom practice during and in the immediate aftermath of the pandemic. The authors argue that what has happened during the coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally changed perspectives on language education, and that if the importance of using online teaching tools in the classroom was dimly understood before the crisis, the language teaching establishment has now fully realized their potential and must continue exploring this further, even as the option to return to in-person teaching becomes widespread. Ranging from online activities to course design, the volume presents a comprehensive outlook at distance learning in modern foreign languages. It does so by focusing on those two aspects that, within an emergency scenario, have proven most challenging, namely: how to assess students in a non-controlled environment and how to foster a sense of community from the confinement of our isolated learning spaces. This book will be of interest to academics and practitioners in Language Education, as well as teachers and teacher trainees.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Design Industries and Creative Culture (Design Decoded 2021) which has been organised by the College of Creative Arts (previously renown as Faculty of Art & Design), Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kedah Branch. Design Decoded 2021 analysed and discussed how art, design and education may have an influence, create a societal difference, and contribute to the economy, as well as how we think, live, work and learn. The main topic of this proceeding was “Decrypt Your Visual Creativity” which consisted of 65 articles about design thinking, interior design, art and design management, industrial design, education in design creativity and innovation, sustainable art and design, visual communication, new media, graphic and digital media, visual culture, design practice, art history, art and creative community, and methodology in design creativity. We are truly thanking you to our four keynote speakers Emeritus Prof. Dr. T.W. Allan Whitfield, Prof. Dr. Khairul Aidil Azlin Abdul Rahman, Dr. Nurul ‘Ayn Ahmad Sayuti and Mr. Firdaus Khalid for their constant support and guidance. Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all colleagues in the steering and organising committee for their cooperation in administering and organising the conference, as well as reviewers for their intellectual effort and dedication to reviewing papers.

This is an open access book. The rapid advancement of technology has created new civilization in this digital era which affects almost all aspects of life including language, literature, culture, and education. The digital era brings opportunities as well as challenges that people have to deal with. Thus, some adjustments need to be done in order to keep up with those changes. Studies on language, literature, culture, and education need to be continuously conducted and developed to revitalize those aspects in facing the dynamic changes of the digital era. In relation to this, Faculty of Language and Literature Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (FPBS UPI) hosts this year’s International Conference on Language, Literature and Culture (ICOLLITE) with the theme “Revitalization of Language, Literature, Culture, and Education in the Digital Era” as a forum for experts and professionals to share their research, ideas, and experiences on this issue. Presenters and participants are welcome to discuss and disseminate current issues and offer solutions to the challenges of our time. Discussions on current trends in digital literacies are expected to pave way to learn from each other for betterment as one big society of humankinds, regardless of their social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

Today, new technologies bring with them an everchanging panorama, forcing us to constantly update our knowledge. For this reason, quality education is necessary in all areas of knowledge and at all educational levels. The quality of our educational systems and the questions raised by reviewing whether our educational institutions offer quality education or not are some of the main reasons why quality education is a topic that, in recent years, has captured the interest of governments, researchers and lecturers, among others. This issue brings together different socioeducational actors with their concerns for and commitments to higher education, in order to achieve the aim of providing people with the competencies necessary to adapt to a changing and competitive world, in which the individual needs to engage in lifelong learning and where education must align with sustainable development goals, such as democracy, justice and equality. All of this provides us with a scenario for reflecting on and researching fundamental questions, such as how to prevent school absenteeism, how to deal with students leaving school early, how to prevent or alleviate the phenomenon of dropping out in higher education, etc. In other words, can we assume that student failure is partly due to the failure of our educational systems? Are we educating self-regulated, critical, learning-motivated and competent students? These and other questions lead us to search for measures with which we can improve the quality of our educational systems by proposing strategies and developing tools to enhance the lecturing-learning processes in our classrooms.
