From bestselling author Kristin Canary comes a series filled with laughs, friendship goals, and the swooniest book boyfriends imaginable … I hate fakers—and Dax Nyhart is as fake as they come. I also hate to lose. My nemesis has been stealing all the best clients for the last year at the marketing firm where we both work—and not because he’s better than me. Because 1) his uncle is the boss and 2) he kisses up to people. And I’m sick of it. So when he asks me to fake an engagement so he can land another job—far away from me—I agree. It’s only one dinner, right? Yeah, sure. One dinner turns into an entire Caribbean cruise. But I’ll do anything to get rid of this pain in my backside. Even pretend to like Dax. Or love him, as it were. Even hold his hand, laugh with him. I might even … ugh … kiss him. Except, it’s not so “ugh” after all. That’s when I start to discover that maybe there’s more to Dax Nyhart than meets the eye. The problem? I have no idea what’s fake and what’s real anymore. I’m afraid this game we’re playing might leave me losing more than just clients to Dax. And this loss might be the most painful of all. Perfect for fans of: ✔️enemies to lovers ✔️office romances ✔️fake engagements ✔️reverse grumpy sunshine ✔️forced proximity ✔️the delicious one-bed trope ✔️flirtatious banter Engaging the Office Enemy is Book 5 in the California Dreamin’ sweet romantic comedy series, where a group of roommates and friends find their perfect matches and support one another like crazy. From bestselling author Kristin Canary comes a series filled with laughs, friendship goals, and the swooniest book boyfriends imaginable … Ever heard of love at first sight? What about love at first push? Because I may have hurtled Topher to the ground so that car wouldn't hit him, but I'm pretty sure I'm the one who fell that December day. How could I not? There's just something about him. It's not just that he's drop-dead handsome, like Henry Cavill and Chris Hemsworth had a baby. Or that he talks in a delicious British-like accent and calls me "love" (swoony swoon swoon, am I right?!). Or that he's impeccably dressed all. the. time. He really just gets me… …even though we're so different. Like he sees me. Which is kind of terrifying for a girl whose past keeps her off social media and out of the public eye—for good reason. But as long as we stay in our little bubble, I feel safe with Topher. Nothing can tear us apart. And then, he tells me he’s a prince… Perfect for fans of: ✔️flirtatious banter ✔️royalty romances ✔️bookish heroes ✔️opposites-attract stories ✔️light holiday romances ✔️relatable heroines ✔️'N Sync references Saving the Secret Prince is Book 3 in the California Dreamin' sweet romantic comedy series, where a group of roommates and friends find their perfect matches and support one another like crazy. Did a "doctrine race" exist alongside the much-publicized arms competition between East and West? Using recent insights from organization theory, Kimberly Marten Zisk answers this question in the affirmative. Zisk challenges the standard portrayal of Soviet military officers as bureaucratic actors wedded to the status quo: she maintains that when they were confronted by a changing external security environment, they reacted by producing innovative doctrine. The author's extensive evidence is drawn from newly declassified Soviet military journals, and from her interviews with retired high-ranking Soviet General Staff officers and highly placed Soviet-Russian civilian defense experts. According to Zisk, the Cold War in Europe was powerfully influenced by the reactions of Soviet military officers and civilian defense experts to modifications in U.S. and NATO military doctrine. Zisk also asserts that, contrary to the expectations of many analysts, civilian intervention in military policy-making need not provoke pitched civil-military conflict. Under Gorbachev's leadership, for instance, great efforts were made to ensure that "defensive defense" policies reflected military officers' input and expertise. Engaging the Enemy makes an important contribution not only to the theory of military organizations and the history of Soviet military policy but also to current policy debates on East-West security issues. Kimberly Marten Zisk is Assistant Professor of Political Science and Faculty Associate of the Mershon Center at the Ohio State University.

Canada’s Mechanized Infantry explores the development of the Canadian Army’s infantry after the First World War. Modern studies of technology and war have tended to focus on tanks and armour, but soldiers discovered that military success really depends on the combination of infantry, armour, and artillery. Peter Kasurak demonstrates how the Canadian army implemented successful infantry vehicles and doctrine to further its military goals during the Second World War until organizational constraints took hold in the postwar period. This book reveals the challenges of transforming the infantry into a twenty-first-century combat force by integrating soldiers, vehicles, weapons, and electronics.
