Previous research on corporate cultures and ethical business cultures has focused almost exclusively on studies of multinational corporations from a handful of developed countries. This book addresses the intersection of human resource development and human resource management with ethical business cultures in the four BRIC countries, and four other fast-growing emerging economies: those of Mexico, Indonesia, South Africa and Turkey. Drawing on longitudinal large-scale survey-based studies, it compares managers' and employees' perceptions of ethical business cultures in these countries, contrasting them with the US economy. It then discusses the economic and socio-cultural context and current research on business ethics in each of these countries, including implications for research and practice. This significant study will appeal to scholars, researchers and students in business ethics, management, human resource management and development, and organization studies, and addresses issues faced daily by business executives and practitioners working in emerging market countries

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,3, University of Cologne, language: English, abstract: This thesis summarises how descriptive ethical research has so far treated cultural differences between Confucian-influenced and Anglo-American countries as well as globally in its analysis of ethical business decisions by looking at firms’ CSR behaviour. It analyses empirical studies and summarises how and to what extend national culture was found to influence firms’ CSR practices. It tries to answer the following questions: What is Confucian-influenced and Anglo-American business culture? How was culture measured? Which cultural dimensions affect CSR behaviour and how? Are there contradicting findings? Can a prescriptive conclusion be drawn? It starts by outlining cultural aspects of Confucian-influenced and Anglo-American (ethical) business culture. The third chapter summarises the designs, operationalization of variables and findings of cross-cultural studies and the fourth chapter critically discusses these studies and their findings to derive suggestions for practitioners. The fifth chapter draws a conclusion.

This proceedings volume examines the impact of ethics on business and entrepreneurship predominantly from the Romanian perspective. Featuring selected contributions from the 2018 Griffiths School of Management Annual Conference (GMSAC) on Business, Entrepreneurship and Ethics, this book investigates the impact of different social phenomena have upon the understanding and applicability of entrepreneurship and ethics, providing lessons for emerging economies. In emerging economies, entrepreneurship is often times associated with a negative image and entrepreneurs are seen in an unfavorable light. This is due in part to the fact that from a superficial perspective, entrepreneurial behavior does not always amalgamate well with ethical behavior. Entrepreneurship is often perceived as “success at all costs” with little regard to the interest of stakeholder and, sometimes, even the law. On the other hand, ethics are often viewed as metaphysical, having little to do with business, organizational and financial success. In actuality, ethical decisions are a significant part of an organization and ethical behaviors impact organizational culture. Beyond the moral aspects associated with business ethics, companies that practice ethical demeanor are more profitable because investors, employees and consumers seek out companies that engage in fair practices. Featuring contributions on topics such as medical ethics, business education, consumer behavior and governance, this book provides invaluable research and tools for students, professors, practitioners and policy makers in the field s of business, management, public administration and sociology.
