This is a book of poetry, reflections of my thoughts and moods. I hope you will gain the same sense of enjoyment in reading my poetry, as I had in writing it.

Flora of North America, Volume 22, is the first of five volumes covering monocots in North America north of Mexico. The volume comprises many groups of acquatic plants and the North American relatives of groups that have their richest number of species in the New World tropics. Included among the treatments are the rush family (Junaceae), which include important indicator species in wetland habitats, the cat-tails (Typhaceae), spiderworts (Commelinaceae), aroids (Araceae), and pondweeds (Potamogetonaceae). Thirty families are included in this volume, representing a diverse range of plant forms - from marine Zosteraceae (eel-grasses) to stately Arecaceae (palms) and the naturalised exotic Zingiberaceae (gingers), Heliconiaceae (heliconias) and Musaceae (bananas).

Plants have been exposed to multiple environmental stressors on long-term (seasonal) and short-term (daily) basis since their appearance on land. However, the frequency and the intensity of stress events have increased much during the last three decades because of climate change. Plants have developed, however, a multiplicity of modular and highly integrated strategies to cope with challenges imposed by novel, usually harsher environments. These strategies include migration, acclimation and adaptation. Twelve articles in this research topic exactly focus on the relative significance of these response mechanisms for the successful acclimation of plants to a wide range of novel environmental pressures. Four articles , additionally, explore how plants respond to severe stress conditions resulting from the concurrent action of multiple stressors. Ten articles mostly examine how morpho-anatomical, physiological and biochemical-related traits integrate when plants suffer from ‘novel’ threats, such as solid, gaseous, and electromagnetic pollutants. Suitable physiological indicators for developing conservation strategies are described in the last two works. This research topic highlights that bottom-up, as well as, top-down approaches will be necessary to develop in near future in the study of plants´ responses to environmental pressures.

From the Delaware River to the shores of Lake Erie, Pennsylvania's diverse watery habitats are home to more than 200 species of aquatic plants. In Aquatic Plants of Pennsylvania: A Complete Reference Guide, botanists Timothy A. Block and Ann Fowler Rhoads have assembled the first identification guide specific to the Keystone State yet useful throughout the Mid Atlantic region. An introductory chapter on aquatic plant ecology covers topics such as evolution, form, and reproduction of aquatic plants, vegetation zones, types of aquatic ecosystems, and rare and endangered species. Information on invasive plants, such as Eurasian water-milfoil and curly pondweed, that threaten Pennsylvania's aquatic ecosystems will be especially useful to watershed organizations, citizen monitoring projects, lake managers, and natural resource agency personnel. An illustrated identification key guides the reader through a series of steps to properly identify a specimen based on its characteristics. Each of the more than 200 listings provides a plant's taxonomy, detailed description, distribution map, and expert botanical illustrations. Many also include color photographs of the plants in their natural habitats.

Since its first publication in 1987, the AHS Encyclopedia of Plants and Flowers has sold nearly 3 million copies and become the must-have reference for all gardeners around the world. This is the ideal book for selecting plants, planning a border, a greenhouse, or a whole garden, and for identifying plants, and it contains a wealth of information on their appearance and cultivation. The 8,000 plants described cover suitability for every climate, including house and conservatory plants. The book begins with a general introduction and explanation of plant names, followed by a revised and enlarged plant selector, highlighting plants suitable for particular sites, soils, conditions, and purposes.
