Street elephants are a common sight in Thailand. Some carry tourists on their backs, but most spend their days begging for food or money, urged on by their mahouts - their grooms and riders. This book introduces the author to you, the reader, and tells of the wonderful relationship between the author and an elephant and the search by the author to learn about the elephant’s history. There are several stories in this book about this very big and very brave elephant, some of his friends, and people he helped at great danger to himself. It is a story highlighting that being able to help others in times of crisis is thanks enough in itself for a job well done. This is my favorite book and best to be read last.
