Now we come to consider it; and we find it as the process of subsumption of itself under itself. At first this is merely formal, for the reason that it subsumes itself only frag mentarily under its Infinite form. Gradually, however, it comes to subsume itself as a Totality, and when it reaches this goal it is the idea. The Comprehension is the adequate form of True Being, i. E. It is a total ity, and this must be kept in mind constantly in order to understand the dialecti cal movement ih the Judgment and Syllogism. The first translation into English and the first detailed interpretation of Hegel's System der Sittlichkeit (1802-3) and of Philosophie des Geistes, the two earliest surviving versions of Hegel's social theory.
