S. N. Sen Born In 1929 Was Educated At Vidyasagar College And University Of Calcutta. He Took His Ph.D In 1958 And D. Litt. In 1970 From The University Of Calcutta. He Has Taught In Vidyasagar College For Women, University Of North Bengal And University Of Calcutta. He Held A Lectureship In University Of Calcutta In 1963, Became A Reader In 1978 And Professor In 1986. Engaged In Teaching And Research Since 1954, He Has To His Credit Two Contributions In The History Of The Marathas Anglo-Maratha Relations During The Administration Of Warren Hastings, 1772-1785 (1961) And Anglo-Maratha Relations (1974). After His Retirement In 1994, He Has Completed The Last Phase Of The Marathas In Two Volumes - Fall Of The Maratha Empire, 1796-1806 In 2001 And Fall Of The Maratha Empire, 1807-1818 In 2003.
