Dana was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Fort Washington, MD. The inspiration for this book came one day while on lunch break at work, chatting with an old friend. It seemed she and I both - and other friends were all going through a mid-life crisis at only 26 years of age. We didn't feel the satisfaction and purpose we thought we were supposed to feel at this point... having "made it" by the world's standards. We all felt like we needed to quit and run away to a remote village somewhere on the other side of the world...to "find ourselves" and sense of purpose and passion we were missing.
