This book presents the joint post-proceedings of three International Workshops held as part of the 12th ACM Conference on Hypertext and Hypermedia in Aarhus, Denmark in August 2001.The 28 revised full papers presented were carefully refereed and selected during two rounds of reviewing and revision. In accordance with the workshop topics, the papers are organized in sections on open hypermedia systems, structural computing, and adaptive hypermedia.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the Metainformatics Symposium, MIS 2003, held in Graz, Austria in September 2003. The 17 revised papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The topics addressed span the entire range from theoretical considerations of important metainformatics related questions and issues to practical descriptions of approaches and systems that offer assistance in their resolution.

This volume contains the final proceedings of the 2004 Metainformatics Symposium (MIS 2004). The event was held during 15–18 September 2004 in Salzburg, Austria at Salzburg Research.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Adaptive Hypermedia and Adaptive Web-Based Systems, AH 2002, held in Malaga, Spain, in May 2002. The 33 revised full papers and 23 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 109 submissions. Also included are three invited contributions, 30 posters, and 5 presentations given at the associated doctoral constortium. Among the topics covered are adaptive hypertext and hypermedia, user modeling, adaptive learning, adaptive tutoring systems, information retrieval, educational hypermedia systems, Web adaption, adaptive navigation, adaption and personalization.

Here are the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Adaptive Hypermedia and Adaptive Web-Based Systems, AH 2006, held in Dublin, Ireland, June 2006. The book presents 22 revised full papers and 19 revised short papers together with abstracts of 3 keynotes, 12 poster papers, and 14 doctoral consortium posters. Topics include pioneering theories, techniques, and innovative technologies to provide dynamic personalization, adaptation, and contextualization of hypermedia resources and services.

On behalf of the AH 2004 Program Committee, we were pleased to welcome att- dees to Eindhoven for the 3rd International Conference on Adaptive Hypermedia and Adaptive Web-Based Systems. Similar to previous years, the number of research groups involved in research and innovative applications of personalization and adaptation functionalities has continued to grow, resulting in a further increase of 33% in the number of papers submitted to the conference, compared to the previous conference. From the 138 submissions we received, the program committee, in a rigorous review process, accepted 27 submissions (i.e., 20%) as full papers and 18 (i.e., 13%) as short papers. The large number of papers submitted generated a tremendous amount of work for the program committee members and the external reviewers, and we are immensely greatful for the effort they put into the process of selecting the very best papers. Together with three invited talks (by Emile Aarts, Philips Research, Candy Sidner, Mitsubishi Research, and Eric Horvitz, Microsoft Research), the AH 2004 - pers provide an excellent view on the successful approaches for innovative person- ization and adaptation functionalities in a variety of areas, including eLearning, eC- merce, mobile tourist guides and many more. They also show the integration of pers- alization functionalities being employed in Web environments, in ambient intelligence and intelligent agent contexts, and building upon adaptive hypermedia and Semantic Web technologies, Web search, Web services, social and peer-to-peer networks, and recommender systems, among others.
