The contamination of psychic phenomena is spreading like spores of some self-proliferating fungus. Hypnotism is a poisonous art. It is not an innocent, harmless party frolic. It is an explosive, destructive and contagious menace.

We commonly think of hypnosis in connection with magic and entertainment, or as a form of medical or psychological therapy. But hypnosis has been known since the earliest times.
