This book contains the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Education, Knowledge and Information Management (ICEKIM 2023) held via hybrid form in Nanjing, China during May 26th to 28th, 2023. The specific topics covered in this conference include the application of artificial intelligence in education, learning management systems, collaborative learning, e-learning methodologies, intellectual property rights, and patents. The aim of the conference is to bring together various professionals from the scientific community to foster connections between science, technology, and industry, and provide a platform for exploring fundamental issues and new applications in related fields. We hope that the scientific attitudes and skills developed through research will encourage scholars worldwide to contribute to the development of knowledge generated by research. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to the conference chair, publication chairs, technical program committee chairs, local organizing chairs, program committee chairs, conference secretariat, and conference sponsors for their financial support, which made the successful organization of ICEKIM 2023 possible. We hope that this conference will continue to be held in the coming years, publishing more insightful articles with inspiring research. In the era of information explosion, there is no doubt that education is an important way of knowledge production, dissemination and diffusion. Education plays an important role in promoting human development and promoting the development of society and human knowledge. ICEKIM 2023 is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Education, Knowledge and Information Management to a common forum. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in Education, Knowledge and Information Management and another goal is to promote scientific information interchange between researchers, developers, engineers, students, and practitioners working all around the world. The conference will be held every year to make it an ideal platform for people to share views and experiences in international conference on Education, Knowledge and Information Management and related areas.

This is an open access book. ISEMSS 2023 was held on July 14–16, 2023 in Kunming, China. And provide a platform for scholars in related fields to exchange ideas and: Develop and advance social development through the study and application of certain social issues. Open up new perspectives and broaden the horizons of looking at issues in the discussions of the participants. Create a forum for sharing, research, and exchange on an international level, allowing participants to learn about the latest research directions, results, and content in different fields thus stimulating them to new research ideas. Papers on Education, Management and Social Sciences will be accepted and published in the form of conference proceedings for those who cannot attend the conference.

This book presents an overview of techniques for discovering high-utility patterns (patterns with a high importance) in data. It introduces the main types of high-utility patterns, as well as the theory and core algorithms for high-utility pattern mining, and describes recent advances, applications, open-source software, and research opportunities. It also discusses several types of discrete data, including customer transaction data and sequential data. The book consists of twelve chapters, seven of which are surveys presenting the main subfields of high-utility pattern mining, including itemset mining, sequential pattern mining, big data pattern mining, metaheuristic-based approaches, privacy-preserving pattern mining, and pattern visualization. The remaining five chapters describe key techniques and applications, such as discovering concise representations and regular patterns.

How the transformation of wireless technology and the creation of an interconnected world are changing our environment and our lives. With Me++ the author of City of Bits and e-topia completes an informal trilogy examining the ramifications of information technology in everyday life. William Mitchell describes the transformation of wireless technology in the hundred years since Marconi—the scaling up of networks and the scaling down of the apparatus for transmission and reception. It is, he says, as if "Brobdingnag had been rebooted as Lilliput"; Marconi's massive mechanism of tower and kerosene engine has been replaced by a palm-size cellphone. If the operators of Marconi's invention can be seen as human appendages to an immobile machine, today's hand-held devices can be seen as extensions of the human body. This transformation has, in turn, changed our relationship with our surroundings and with each other. The cellphone calls from the collapsing World Trade Center towers and the hijacked jets on September 11 were testimony to the intensity of this new state of continuous electronic engagement. Thus, Mitchell proposes, the "trial separation" of bits (the elementary unit of information) and atoms (the elementary unit of matter) is over. With increasing frequency, events in physical space reflect events in cyberspace, and vice versa; digital information can, for example, direct the movement of an aircraft or a robot arm. In Me++ Mitchell examines the effects of wireless linkage, global interconnection, miniaturization, and portability on our bodies, our clothing, our architecture, our cities, and our uses of space and time. Computer viruses, cascading power outages, terrorist infiltration of transportation networks, and cellphone conversations in the streets are symptoms of a dramatic new urban condition—that of ubiquitous, inescapable network interconnectivity. He argues that a world governed less and less by boundaries and more and more by connections requires us to reimagine and reconstruct our environment and to reconsider the ethical foundations of design, engineering, and planning practice.

This handbook provides a thorough overview of the current state of knowledge in this area. The first part of the book includes nine surveys and tutorials on the principal data mining techniques that have been applied in education. The second part presents a set of 25 case studies that give a rich overview of the problems that EDM has addressed. With contributions by well-known researchers from a variety of fields, the book reflects the multidisciplinary nature of the EDM community. It helps education experts understand what types of questions EDM can address and helps data miners understand what types of questions are important to educational design and educational decision making.
