"[A] mordant debut novel....examines what it means to covet the lives of others, no matter the cost."—The New York Times "Tense, twisty, and packed with shocks."—Riley Sager, New York Times bestselling author of Survive The Night Six friends. One college reunion. One unsolved murder. Ten years after graduation, Jessica Miller has planned her triumphant return to her southern, elite Duquette University, down to the envious whispers that are sure to follow in her wake. Everyone is going to see the girl she wants them to see—confident, beautiful, indifferent. Not the girl she was when she left campus, back when Heather Shelby's murder fractured everything, including the tight bond linking the six friends she'd been closest to since freshman year. But not everyone is ready to move on. Not everyone left Duquette ten years ago, and not everyone can let Heather's murder go unsolved. Someone is determined to trap the real killer, to make the guilty pay. When the six friends are reunited, they will be forced to confront what happened that night—and the years' worth of secrets each of them would do anything to keep hidden. Told in racing dual timelines, with a dark campus setting and a darker look at friendship, love, obsession, and ambition, In My Dreams I Hold A Knife is an addictive, propulsive read you won't be able to put down. "Beautiful writing, juicy secrets, complex female characters, and drumbeat suspense—what more could you want from a debut thriller?"—Andrea Bartz, author of Reese's Book Club pick We Were Never Here

This book sets Gauḍapāda in historical context and develops a commentary that makes the meaning and significance of the Alātasānti text clear. In the Alātasānti , Gauḍapāda uses terms made familiar by Buddhism in order to expound his Vedantic philosophy. It places him at the watershed between Mahāyāna Buddhism and Vedanta. Among the important issues discussed are Gauḍapāda's radical doctrine of non-production (ajati), that is, the view that despite appearances nothing is ever actually brought into existence; his notion of the illusory nature of sensory experience; his conviction that reality is "not two" (and certainly not more than two); his theory of knowledge; and the "touchless yoga" he hoped would dispel our illusions about ourselves and our world. His logic and the content of his arguments are examined critically.

A legend. A warrior. A hero. A classic American epic. Two centuries ago, with the support of the young Revolutionary government, George Rogers Clark led a small but fierce army west from Virginia to conquer all the territory between the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. He battled the British, forged friendships with French and Spanish settlers, and made treaties with many Indian tribes who revered the lanky, red-haired white man and called him Long Knife. He fell in love with the woman of his dreams, the beautiful Spanish maiden Teresa de Leyba. And George Rogers Clark was, in the end, bitterly betrayed by the same government he had so nobly served. Rich in the heroic characters, meticulously researched detail, and grand scale that have become James Alexander Thom’s trademarks, Long Knife, his first historical epic, is simply unforgettable.

African Sorceress: War on the Sahel, is one woman’s fight against the evil Atlantic slave trade. It is based on an oral tradition story the author heard in Africa. It takes place in the 1600s in what is now Ghana. The heroine is Kisa, who we first meet in African Sorceress: A Warrior is Forged. Her village is raided by slave traders who sell their captives to the Dutch slave masters in the infamous Elmina slave castle. Kisa trains to be a sorceress and a warrior and lead her people to victory against the slavers. In War on the Sahel, Kisa and her lover Kojo take the war beyond their village. They infiltrate the slave castle, lead a mutiny on a slave ship, take a Portuguese trading fort and build an army to fight the African slave traders who are supplying the Europeans. The action is fast-paced, the story is credible, exciting and imaginative and it’s a great way to learn a largely untold history. The story is heroic fantasy but wrapped within the fantasy are the facts of 17th century Africa and the damage the slave trade caused to the proud independent peoples represented in Kisa’s Army. We meet the tribes that make up her army of freed captives, representing many distinct cultures, languages, customs and spiritual traditions. These oral traditions were just as deep, rich and complex as those of cultures with written languages. What reviewers said about African Sorceress: A Warrior is Forged - “Skeel has done a fantastic job taking on such a huge and largely hidden topic.” - “A really original story, unlike anything I've read before. A lot of research must have gone into this book to weave so many threads of history, anthropology, and geography into the tale. Read it for fun or read it to learn about a part of history most of us have never heard of -- either way you'll enjoy it.” - “Skeel immerses you into the world of the Atlantic slave trade from a perspective that is rarely--if ever--told. Skeel masterfully balances being as informative as any historian while being as entertaining as the best storytellers”
