Phagocytosis, as an innate immune defense mechanism, is the first process to respond to pathogens. It is also one of the initiating branches of an adaptive immune response. This book provides a comprehensive overview of phagocytosis and related cells in the immune response. It presents the basics of phagocytosis as well as discusses management and therapeutic strategies for infections.

We are delighted to present the inaugural Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine “Rising Stars” article collection. This collection showcases the high-quality work of internationally recognized researchers in the early stages of their independent careers. All Rising Star researchers were individually nominated by the Chief Editors of the Journal in recognition of their potential to influence the future directions in their respective fields.
