This book gathers research contributions on recent advances in intelligent and distributed computing. A major focus is placed on new techniques and applications for several highlydemanded research directions: Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Big Data, Data Mining and Machine Learning, Multi-agent and Service-Based Distributed Systems, Distributed Algorithms and Optimization, Modeling Operational Processes, Social Network Analysis and Inappropriate Content Counteraction, Cyber-Physical Security and Safety, Intelligent Distributed Decision Support Systems, Intelligent Human-Machine Interfaces, VisualAnalytics and others. The book represents the peer-reviewed proceedings of the 13thInternational Symposium on Intelligent Distributed Computing (IDC 2019), which was held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from October 7 to 9, 2019.

This book presents a collection of contributions addressing recent advances and research in synergistic combinations of topics in the joint fields of intelligent computing and distributed computing. It focuses on the following specific topics: distributed data mining and machine learning, reasoning and decision-making in distributed environments, distributed evolutionary algorithms, trust and reputation models for distributed systems, scheduling and resource allocation in distributed systems, intelligent multi-agent systems, advanced agent-based and service-based architectures, and Smart Cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) environments. The book represents the combined peer-reviewed proceedings of the 11th International Symposium on Intelligent Distributed Computing (IDC 2017) and the 7th International Workshop on Applications of Software Agents (WASA 2017), both of which were held in Belgrade, Serbia from October 11 to 13, 2017.

Intelligent computing covers a hybrid palette of methods and techniques - rived from classical arti?cial intelligence, computational intelligence, multi-agent systems a.o. Distributed computing studies systems that contain loosely-coupled components running on networked computers and that c- municateandcoordinatetheiractionsbyexchangeofmessages.Theemergent ?eld of intelligent distributed computing is expected to pose special ch- lenges of adaptation and fruitful combination of results of both areas with a great impact on the development of new generation intelligent distributed information systems. Intelligent Distributed Computing – IDC Symposium Series was started as an initiative of research groups from: (i) Systems Research Institute, P- ish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland and (ii) Software Engineering Department of the University of Craiova, Craiova, Romania. IDC aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners involved in all aspects of - telligent distributed computing. IDC 2009 was the third event in this series and was hosted by Department of Computer Science, University of Cyprus in Ayia Napa, Cyprus during October 13-14, 2009.

The 13th International Symposium on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence 2016 (DCAI 2016) is a forum to present applications of innovative techniques for studying and solving complex problems. The exchange of ideas between scientists and technicians from both the academic and industrial sector is essential to facilitate the development of systems that can meet the ever-increasing demands of today’s society. The present edition brings together past experience, current work and promising future trends associated with distributed computing, artificial intelligence and their application in order to provide efficient solutions to real problems. This symposium is organized by the University of Sevilla (Spain), Osaka Institute of Technology (Japan), and the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia)

The 33 peer-reviewed contributions published in this book address a wide range of topics related to the theory and applications of intelligent distributed computing and multi-agent systems. They cover topics from bio-informatics to semantic web services.

This book represents the combined peer-reviewed proceedings of the Eight International Symposium on Intelligent Distributed Computing - IDC'2014, of the Workshop on Cyber Security and Resilience of Large-Scale Systems - WSRL-2014, and of the Sixth International Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems Technology and Semantics- MASTS-2014. All the events were held in Madrid, Spain, during September 3-5, 2014.
