“Getting Started with a SIMPLIS Approach” is particularly appropriate for those users who are not experts in statistics, but have a basic understanding of multivariate analysis that would allow them to use this handbook as a good first foray into LISREL. Part I introduces the topic, presents the study that serves as the background for the explanation of matters, and provides the basis for Parts II and III, which, in turn, explain the process of estimation of the measurement model and the structural model, respectively. In each section, we also suggest essential literature to support the utilization of the handbook. After having read the book, readers will have acquired a basic knowledge of structural equation modeling, namely using the LISREL program, and will be prepared to continue with the learning process.

Improving learning and teaching at schools or universities may start with choosing evidence-based interventions and practices, but does not end there. To ensure sustainable changes to programs in educational practice, interventions need to address complex issues related to theories, research designs, and measurements. This book presents typical but often overlooked problems in intervention research in educational practice. These problems are embedded in various educational areas such as, amongst others, school effectiveness, instructional design or motivational aspects of teacher trainings.

This book discusses the latest findings on ensuring employees’ safety, health, and welfare at work. It combines a range of disciplines – e.g. work physiology, health informatics, safety engineering, workplace design, injury prevention, and occupational psychology – and presents new strategies for safety management, including accident prevention methods such as performance testing and participatory ergonomics. The book, which is based on the AHFE 2018 International Conference on Safety Management and Human Factors, held on July 21–25, 2018, in Orlando, Florida, USA, provides readers, including decision makers, professional ergonomists and program managers in government and public authorities, with a timely snapshot of the state of the art in the field of safety, health, and welfare management. It also addresses agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), as well as other professionals dealing with occupational safety and health.

The Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) Yearbook XXIV offers 16 captivating chapters related to establishing a sense of place or belonging for P-12 students, classroom teachers, teacher candidates, and teacher educators. The chapters include theory, research, concepts, principles, practices, and programs that inform and support as well as question and challenge readers from multiple perspectives. Readers gain insights and inspiration that illustrate ways teachers and learners negotiate meaning in environments where everyone experiences social and cultural connections with personal and academic fulfillment. Collectively, the authors identify, describe, analyze, and advance issues associated with creating both an individual and a shared sense of place among the ever-changing populations in contemporary P-12 schools and classrooms. Like human geographers, teacher educators and educational researchers study environments where children grow up and create bonds with their early environments that continue to influence them throughout their lives based on the ways in which meaning is negotiated in that early space. Candidates, teachers, and teacher educators benefit by investigating the presence and power of these landscapes impacting the teaching, learning, and schooling.

LISREL 8 offers an impressive array of facilities for data analysis including indirect and total effects and their standard errors; direct specification of mean parameters; a Ridge Option for handling covariance and correlation matrices that are not positive-definitive; and modification indices for all iterative estimation methods. Advancements of special interest include: * the new command language -- SIMPLIS -- that is easy to use and minimizes the possibility of mistakes in the problem set up; * high quality path diagrams that can be produced on the screen and printed; * many new measures that judge the fit of the model; * linear and nonlinear constraints that may be imposed on any set of model parameters; * general covariance structures that allow formulation of models that cannot be specified as LISREL models; and * interval restrictions that may be imposed on any single parameter. Advanced users will gain new insights into the use of asymptotically distribution-free (ADF) analysis, as well as power calculations for tests of model augmentation, automatic model modification, and other program features. Included with LISREL 8 is PRELIS 2, a preprocessor for LISREL which greatly improves and accelerates analysis of binary, categorical, ordinal, censored, continuous, and/or incomplete data. New features of PRELIS 2 include: * missing values on a variable that may be inputed by matching on other variables; * new variables that may be created as functions of other variables; * tests of univariate and multivariate normality that are obtained for all continuous variables; * bootstrap estimates that may be obtained of the covariance matrix of correlations and other associations measures for which no asymptotic theory is available; * univariate and multivariate multinomial probit models that may be estimated for any set of jointly dependent ordinal variables and any set of fixed or random covariates; and * other features include an outprint that gives more information with improved presentation, a new and better estimation of asymptotic covariance matrices, several new options for threshold models, and a quicker speed than PRELIS 1. LISREL 8 and PRELIS 2 are currently available for use on PCs utilizing MS-DOS, OS/2, and DOS extender systems.
