The information contained in the publication is based on data provided by approximately 175 countries (or areas) in the world. The Yearbook is aimed at both specialist trade data users and common audience at large. The presented data, charts and analyses will benefit policy makers, government agencies, non-government organizations, civil society organizations, journalists, academics, researchers, students, businesses and anyone who is interested in trade issues. The information and analyses are presented in a way which can be comprehended by non-expert users of statistics.

The 2012 International Trade Statistics Yearbook, Volume II - Trade by Commodity contains detailed tables showing international trade for 258 individual commodities (3-digit SITC groups) and eleven world trade tables covering trade values and indices up to the year 2012. The information contained is based on data provided by approximately 140 countries (areas), representing more than 90% of world trade of 2012. Volume II has been compiled approximately six months after the submission of Volume I (in November 2013) as the preparation of these tables requires and benefits from the additional country data which, normally, become available later in the year. Volume I - Trade by Country has been compiled (and made available) early in 2013 (in May 2013) to allow for an advanced release of an overview of international merchandise trade in 2012 and for a much earlier publication of the available 2012 country (area) data.

This volume contains detailed tables showing international trade for 258 individual commodities and eleven world trade tables covering trade values and indices up to 2014. The information is based on data provided by approximately 175 countries (areas), representing more than 90% of world trade in 2014. In contrast to prior editions, this volume includes integrated presentation of international merchandise trade, and trade in services. The publication is aimed at both specialist trade data users and a common audience. Data, charts and analyses will benefit policymakers, governments, NGOs, civil society, journalists, academics, students and businesses. Information is presented in a way that can be comprehended by non-experts.

The information presented in the publication give an insight into the latest trends of trade of around 260 commodity categories and 11 categories of services.
