Issues In North South Dialog

On relations between developed and developing countries.

The complex North-South dialogue between the 125 developing countries and the 24 industrialized countries of the 'West' centers largely around the contentious issue of the distribution of the world's resources and income. This paper presents an overview of the principal arenas in which the North-South debate has developed and become institutionalized. The study concludes that patient work and hard negotiation on a number of levels within the United Nations framework have resulted in incremental progress and a remarkable degree of consensus.
