Haydn wrote his Mass No. 3, also known as "Missa in Angustiis," and also as the "Lord Nelson Mass," during Austrian wartime turmoil in 1798. Lord Nelson�۪s name became associated with the Mass because of his victory against Napolean, the news of which coincided with the work�۪s premier performance in September, 1798.
