John Watts was born 24 January 1756 in Orange County, Virginia. His father was Jacob Watts. He married Lucy Dalton. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Utah and Idaho.

John White (d.1787/1788) was a son of Conyers and Mary White of Leicestershire, England. He married Ann Wisdom, and about 1738 they immigrated to Orange (later Greene) County, Virginia. Descendants and relatives lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, California and elsewhere.

Each entry in this volume gives the name of the bride and groom, the date of the bond, and the name of the bondsman, who was often a relative of the bride. A brides' index follows at the back of the volume. All told, this work identifies the 3,500 oldest Loudoun County marriage bonds known to exist.
