This report states that UNDP Zambia has in general been effective in its contributions to development in Zambia. However, programme resources were spread too thinly across many initiatives and insufficient attention was given to ensuring sustainability. While cooperating partners and non-governmental organizations would have preferred UNDP to play a stronger role in advocacy, the Government appreciates UNDP as a consistent partner. The evaluation suggests that, within the context of the United Nations country team, UNDP missed opportunities to develop more joint initiatives.

Using and urbanization in Zambia: Unleashing a formal market process

This report presents the findings and recommendations of the Assessment of Development Results (ADR) conducted in Uganda, with a time-frame covering country programmes; from 2001 to 2009. More specifically, the ADR provides forward-looking recommendations to assist UNDP Uganda and its partners in formulating an action plan for the next programming cycle (2010–2014). The evaluation looked at the range of support provided by UNDP to Uganda in the areas of poverty reduction, sustainable environment democratic governance, and crisis prevention and recovery in a post- conflict and human development context. Uganda has made significant progress in social and economic development in the past two decades and is moving steadily towards sustainable growth and poverty reduction. The evaluation found that UNDP contribution has been significant in terms of responsiveness to national priorities and needs. Amid a competitive aid environment, particularly one predisposed to budget support, UNDP maintained its relevance.

This paper presents the Poverty Reduction Strategy Implementation Progress Report for Côte d’Ivoire. Since the end of the crisis in April 2011, Côte d'Ivoire has gradually recovered economic activity and social cohesion, as reflected in the reopening of banks, schools and health centers, markets, and industrial enterprises. Financing of the poverty reduction strategy is provided largely through budget resources and assistance from the government's technical and financial partners (TFP). Assistance from the TFP may also take the form of project grants or program grants.
