This volume is the proceedings of the 3rd IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Innovation and Invention 2020 (IEEE ICKII 2020). The conference was organized by the IEEE Tainan Section Sensors Council (IEEE TSSC), the International Institute of Knowledge Innovation and Invention (IIKII), and the National University of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and held on August 21-23, 2020 in Kaohsiung.This volume of Knowledge Innovation on Design and Culture selected 95 excellent papers from the IEEE ICKII 2020 conference in the topics of Innovative Design and Cultural Research and Knowledge Innovation and Invention. This proceedings presents the research results based on the interdisciplinary collaboration of social sciences and engineering technologies by international networking in the academic and industrial fields.

The four-volume set LNCS 13311 - 13314 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Cross-Cultural Design, CCD 2022, which was held as part of HCI International 2022 and took place virtually during June 26 - July 1, 2022. The scope of this book is to map China’s city clusters and their individual directions for the national-level strategies in line with the 2060 carbon neutrality plan. Since China announced the carbon neutrality plan in autumn 2020, no study has looked at the role of city clusters in achieving this long-term plan. Hence, this study is believed to be the first attempt to explore this important topic from the city cluster perspective. It explores the challenges, opportunities, and directions of all 19 city clusters, allowing readers to have a clear picture of China’s historical and ongoing progress, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. In a short time, China’s city clusters have helped boost regional economic development, infrastructure development, trade and business, and better urban–rural integration. With enhanced coordination of connection and transport networks in and between the city clusters, we see a growing number of initiatives beyond just the initial economic strategies. The dual approach of top-down policies and infrastructure systems and bottom-up governance and investments has helped China consider urban–rural development strategies and regional sustainable development. These factors are essential to be explored from the city cluster perspective and in line with China’s sustainable development and carbon neutrality directions. Hence, the book covers these points holistically, ensuring that regional planning and development are favored in the face of uneven urbanization trends. We anticipate this book to be a valuable resource for local governments and authorities, urban planners and practitioners, developers, and urban researchers. While the focus is on China’s city clusters, we believe there are similar examples elsewhere. Hence, lessons learnt from this book could apply to other countries, regions, and subregions. Lastly, the book aims to put regional sustainable development at the heart of longer-term strategies and plans, such as the case of China’s carbon neutrality plan.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Innovative Technologies and Learning, ICITL 2021, held in November/December 2021. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The 59 full papers presented together with 2 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 110 submissions. These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 24th European Conference on Knowledge Management (ECKM 2023), hosted by Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal on 7-8 September 2023. The Conference Chair is Prof Florinda Matos, and the Programme Chair is Prof Álvaro Rosa, both from Iscte Business School, Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, Portugal. ECKM is now a well-established event on the academic research calendar and now in its 24th year the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas and meet the people who hold them. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two days. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and ever-growing area of research. The opening keynote presentation is given by Professor Leif Edvinsson, on the topic of Intellectual Capital as a Missed Value. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Professor Noboru Konno from Tama Graduate School and Keio University, Japan who will talk about Society 5.0, Knowledge and Conceptual Capability, and Professor Jay Liebowitz, who will talk about Digital Transformation for the University of the Future. With an initial submission of 350 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 184 Academic research papers, 11 PhD research papers, 1 Masters Research paper, 4 Non-Academic papers and 11 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, México, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Palestine, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, UK, United Arab Emirates and the USA.

Smart Design, Science & Technology represents the proceedings of the IEEE 6th International Conference on Applied System Innovation (ICASI 2020), which was held in Taitung, Taiwan November 5-8, 2020. The conference received more than 200 submitted papers from at least 11 different countries, whereby roughly one third of these papers was selected by the committees and invited to present at ICASI 2020. This book aims to provide an integrated communication platform for researchers from a wide range of disciplines including information technology, communication science, applied mathematics, computer science, advanced material science, and engineering. Only high quality papers were allowed to publish in the volume. Hopefully, interdisciplinary collaborations between science and engineering technologists in academia and industry will be enhanced via this unique international network.

This book constitutes the refereed post-conference proceedings the 5th EAI International Conference on DLI 2020, Design, Leaning and Innovation, which took place in December 2020. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the conference was held virtually. The 14 revised full papers presented were carefully selected from 40 submissions and are organized in four thematic sessions on: digital technologies and learning; designing for innovation; digital games, gamification and robots; designs for innovative learning.
