Concerned with the process in Hinduism of reinterpreting classical texts and imbuing them with new inspiration. An example par excellence is Hariram Vyas's Ras-pancadhyayi, the earliest known Braj Bhasa version of the five chapters of Bhagavatapurana on Krsna's Dance with the Gopis.

Authorship of the great Sanskrit language epic poem of India, the Mahābhārata, is attributed to the sage Kṛsṇa Dvaipāyana Vyāsa. This study focuses on the depiction of Vyāsa in the Mahābhārata, where he is an important character in the tale he is credited with composing. Other scholars have interpreted Vyāsa as an incarnation of Nārāyana Visṇu. This study, however, demonstrates that he is so depicted only very rarely in the epic, and that elsewhere the Mahābhārata portrays Vyāsa as corresponding meaningfully with Brahmā. Vyāsa is, in fact, the earthly counterpart to Brahmā in the Mahābhārata, as Kṛsṇa is of Visṇu, etc. The interpretation of Vyāsa is enriched by the different perspectives provided by other literature, including dramas, Jātaka tales, Arthasāstra, and Purāṇas.

On the Way to Krishna is based on lectures Srila Prabhupada gave, mostly on the 7th chapter of the Bhagavad-gita, in New York in the fall of 1966. These were still his early days in the United States, and he addresses a quintessential part of what we think of as the American dream: the right to pursue happiness. Of course, the desire for happiness is not an American phenomenon but intrinsic to the human condition. Without knowing what real happiness is, Srila Prabhupada says, happiness is impossible to achieve. In this small book, Srila Prabhupada discusses how happiness is found beyond the temporary, and illumines Lord Krishna's definition of happiness as it is presented in the pages of the Bhagavad-gita.

The Purana is one of the two most important and popular Hindu texts, the other being the Ramayana. It is part of the popular tradition, rather than a literary classic like the Upanishads or the Gita. It successfully demonstrates the understanding of devotion as a process of participation with divine embodiment in which worship of Krishna’s image is integral.
