Esta monografía supone una novedad en los estudios de traducción aplicada, ya que describe el trabajo diario de las traductoras y de los traductores responsables de los distintos servicios de traducción en los ámbitos autonómico (Xunta de Galiza, traducción jurada), estatal (Administración de Justicia y Oficina de Interpretación de Lenguas del MAE) y europeo (Comisión Europea). Estos servicios no responden a una selección exhaustiva, sino que son representativos en los ámbitos de actuación citados.
