This dictionary of 368 key terms in international law--concepts, major treaties, international conventions, and theories--clarifies a broad range of issues in this field. Organized thematically, its 12 chapters bring together terms on topics such as jurisdiction and jurisdictional immunities, treatment of aliens, the law of the sea, and laws of war and neutrality. The two-part entries first define the term and then explain its significance and implications through historic and current examples. Most of the "see also" references within the definitions refer to other terms within the same chapter. Published in 1987, The Constitutional Law Dictionary, Volume 2: Governmental Powers does not include significant Supreme Court decisions rendered later than 1986. This supplement, the first for Volume 2, covers some of the significant decisions made since 1987. As in the original Volume 2, the cases and concepts chosen for this supplement are intended to advance readers' understanding of U.S. constitutional law. In total, 138 new cases have been included, and an alphabetical list of all new cases and their respective supplement page numbers appears at the beginning of the supplement. Readers will also find cross-references that point to related material in the original volume. Appendixes B and C have been updated to reflect new justice appointments to the Supreme Court since Volume 2 was published.
