Leadership In Theological Education Volume 3

The ICETE Programme for Academic Leadership (IPAL) was officially established in 2010 and arose out of the need to provide training to theological institutions in different regions of the world. IPAL provides a three-year cycle of seminars for the professional development of evangelical academic leaders and administrators to help institutions in their pursuit of quality and excellence in theological education. This publication is the third and final volume intended to accompany and support the IPAL seminars as well as be an independent resource to aid theological institutions with faculty development. Faculty development is at the heart of theological education. This book lays the foundation for institutions to equip, train and release emerging academic leaders to advance their careers and improve the standards of their teaching and research. The contributors to this volume share the findings of research conducted at evangelical academic institutions in various contexts around the world so other senior administrators can enhance the quality of theological education at their own institution.

This publication is the first of three volumes intended to accompany and support the IPAL seminars as well as independently providing wider access to the principles required by academic leaders for institutional development. Each chapter shares and illustrates the contributors’ expertise in and understanding of education, leadership and administration in the field of evangelical academic institutions. With an intentional awareness of a wide range of non-Western contexts this volume is a much-needed guide for senior administrators around the world.

With an intentional awareness of a wide range of non-Western contexts, this volume is a much-needed guide for course administrators around the world.

Theological schools are often led by teachers with minimal administrative experience or training. Excellence in Theological Education is designed to help leaders of theological schools, especially within the Majority World, to affirm the excellence of their own training institutions, and where excellence may be lacking, to discover ideas that will strengthen the quality of administration and education provision.

Enlighten: Formational Learning in Theological Field Education shines a light on specific learning methods student ministers and their mentors can leverage to make the most of their field experience. Expanding on the knowledge gathered in Engage:A Theological Field Education Toolkit and Empower: A Guide for Supervisor-Mentors in Theological Field Education, this book challenges students, peer reflection group members, and supervisor-mentors to utilize each learning theory to achieve deeper formation. Contributors to the volume introduce individual theories and identify potential areas of resistance and opportunities for growth through illustrative case studies. These practical examples provide support for students facing common obstacles while encouraging all participants in the field education process to be open to new avenues of growth.
