Judge Weeramantry has written distinguished books on Roman Dutch Law, Jurisprudence, the relationship between Law and Science, International Law and International Human Rights Law. The coverage of Legal Visions of the 21st Century includes: - Jurisprudence and Comparative Law; - Human Rights and Bioethics; - Judging and the Judiciary; - fascinating aspects of general International Law and the International Court of Justice; and - 'appreciations' - the final selection of the volume, which conveys an idea of the role Judge Weeramantry played in the offices he held prior to his appointment to the International Court of Justice. In the manner of a true legal discussion, the essays reflect a variety of opinions, including those that oppose the views of the honoree. Rick Joyner says, "We have tended to over-focus on the end of the age-the end times. But this is not just the end, it's the beginning of a new age when Christ will rule over the earth! For the church to reclaim the high ground of hope for the future, we must begin to proclaim the beginning, the coming of the kingdom." In A Prophetic Vision for the 21st Century, Joyner discusses why revival tarries for America, what it means to be delivered from the Mark of the Beast, the rise and fall of America, the greatest awakening, a famine in the land, and practical ways to serve in the latter days. It includes encouragement for weary church leaders as well as the second part of The Hordes of Hell are Marching, illustrating the unified church rising as an army in the most pivotal battle of all time between the light and darkness.

A New Vision of God for the 21st Century Discovering the Essential Wesley for Pastors and Other Seekers STANLEY A. FRY The need for a book focused on John Wesley as a preacher has been apparent for some time. However, as fascinating as such an historical work would have been, its value for the preaching and teaching ministries of the church in the 21st century would have been very limited. The author has turned this study of Wesley's preaching into a search for the preachable and teachable essence of Wesley's message. That effort has required a bit of surgery on Mr. Wesley which is designed to fit his doctrine of salvation with a new vision of God and another vocabulary responsive to the spiritual sensitivities of the 21st century. The result includes a critique not only of Wesley but of some of the orthodox doctrines promulgated very early in the church's history. Rather than write a memoir in his retirement, the author has chosen to write this homiletical essay as a testimony to his own spiritual journey. It is not a method book, but rather a message book.

“Mitch Kowalski has translated his considerable understanding of tomorrow’s legal profession into an original, provocative and entertaining narrative.” —Professor Richard Susskind, author of The End of Lawyers? “This is the most innovative law practice management book I’ve ever seen. Mitch has deftly combined an engaging novel about the lives of working lawyers with an illuminating treatise on how law firms must respond to extraordinary change in the legal marketplace. Avoiding Extinction is as entertaining as it is instructive -- and it couldn’t be more timely.” —Jordan Furlong, Partner, Edge International “This is a must read for managing partners, and for all lawyers under the age of 50. Written as a parable, once you pick it up it’s difficult to put down. And it literally screams relevance to the lives of those lawyers today who worry about the sustainability of the current model of legal practice. Big firm or small. City or rural – no matter, this book is for you. Can the law be both a profession and a business? Is it possible to escape the tyranny of the billable hour? Is it realistic to imagine being a truly happy lawyer in private practice in the twenty-first century? You bet – and Mitch Kowalski shows us how! —Ian Holloway QC, Dean of Law, The University of Calgary “Avoiding Extinction is the most original, far-thinking and innovative book on transforming the way that law is practised that I have ever read. Mitch has taken the traditional law firm and turned it upside down. In the process he has reworked the law firm model and given us an insight into how a firm could be structured and run. If you are looking for a creative vision into what a new, truly different law firm could look like, then this book is manna from heaven.” —David J. Bilinsky, Practice Management Advisor, lawyer and writer on law practice management and technology. Creator of the law blog, Thoughtful Legal Management.

Problems relating to the non-navigational uses of international watercourses have the capacity to be among the most serious causes of international conflicts in the new century. The Convention adopted by the UN General Assembly on 21 May 1997 is the first comprehensive attempt to provide at the universal level a coherent set of rules for the avoidance, management and settlement of such conflicts. This book gives a brief history of the codification process leading to the adoption of the Convention and considers the conflicting approaches to the subject that have been taken over the years. It examines the Convention as future treaty law and considers its impact on customary law putting it in the context of existing relevant international instruments. It analyses the substantive principles of equitable utilisation and of no-harm, on the one hand, and the procedural obligations, on the other, and emphasises their mutual complementarity. The specific rules on the environmental protection of watercourses are given separate consideration underlining the indivisibility of water quality and water quantity issues, while the dispute settlement provisions set out in the Convention are studied with special emphasis on negotiated settlement as their ultimate aim. This book will be a compulsory tool for law makers, negotiators of future watercourse agreements and water law practitioners, as well as a required reading for students of the international law of shared natural resources.
